That is a corruption area. One of the maps has a glowing red symbol. When you either kill all teh rares, or kill the boss, it will spawn a rare mob to kill. Killing it cleanses the corruption and the maps change.

Also @unique gazelle , the corrupted versions spawn packs from the ground as you kill mobs, cleansed areas have 20+ packs of special mobs. I know the cleansed area can drop a fracturing orb from one of the maps in said area. I dont know what the corrupted area drops

Still kinda struggling to make currency — I'm in T8 maps. My main focus is picking up amulets, wands, rings, and all rares. I throw Transmutes and Augmentations on them, or Regal if they look promising, hoping for good stats to sell. I also check vendors every level to see if anything useful pops up... but I'm still not really making much currency.

Should I just keep going with this strategy until I find something valuable, or is there more I should be doing?

ah... yeah i was wondering why it didnt spawn on balbala. so i basically went to do boss (cause i found her first) but i somehow died to her. and due to new mechanic of "cleaning all mobs" if you die to boss. she was only left in map and i think i had to kill a few more rares

You'd need to stack up a lot more Evasion, but being able to Evade all hits rather than just Strikes and Projectiles can protect you from many of the bigger slams and boss hits, so it's definitely got value.

Oh, nevermind, just read that Corrupted / Purified zones can randomly roll +1 on zone affixes.

So you have to hit Irradiate, Boss, and +1 to get those points.
