Gems have tags and say whether they're a spell or attack.

Tiers of mods determine how high of a roll it can have. Tier 1 is the best. I don't know how early rarity can roll on items, you'd have to check a poedb for that probably.

the item's item level determines how high tier of mods can be on the item

You don't have control over it outside of things like essences, which only guarantee one mod. Item level (not requirement) determine which tier mods CAN roll, doesn't mean they will. And later there are tiers of items that remove some of the lower mod tiers.

No. And in the campaign rarity/magic find is kind of unnecessary.

The depth is based on the instance that your located in. So if the instance end the Abyss goes away. If you die it goes away. And crashes in the instance usually kick you out at well. I would personally run it cause there really rare to get. But if you gotta afk I say stay in the Abyss instance for your safest option

I think maybe keep buying items for 1-10 exalts until your character level is high enough to buy a high level item, it's closer to 80 for weapons and around 65 for jewelry for example, then either make a one divine build first or start already spending one divine per item

The game has an economy because players can't trade among each other. Generally, the more rare the item, the more value it has in the community.

The farther and more into the game you get, the more the valuable items will probably matter to you, so that's probably why he was so excited to get a valuable item.

Mods have multiple tiers. You cannot control the rolls inside those tiers. You can reroll them with divine orbs but thats super min max expensive. Your only concern should be getting stats you need, and hopefully a decent tier of them.

Nah, that's just RNG loot. Vaaling something is the last step and only if you can afford to lose the item. It can do nothing to the item, it can also brick it. My basic process this league has been transmute, aug, essence/regal, desecrate (abyss mod). And if any of the stats are bad during those steps, I either stop and use the item as is or throw it away and start over.

No. Zones are a randomly generated. And most zones have waypoints so you don't have to go back to them unless its for a quest. If it's taking you that long to get through enemies and make it to the next zone, you may have build problems.

I am qualified to answer this because me and my bf started the campaign together about 40 hours ago and were just getting to the end of it now, and this is with playing maybe 2-4 hours a day so you could go more intense or slower and still have a good time. I’d never touched an ARPG before and he hardly remembered the campaign, so I’d say we are complete beginners as well.

For the easiest time you guys should pick a class you like and then follow a build guide, otherwise I would say it kind of would get overwhelming! But it’s fun to look out for upgrades for one another and learn together.

We blew through the campaign but both of us are pretty used to difficult games, and we’re playing witch/huntress with the intention of going meta build so stuff kind of fell over when we hit it together. If you don’t follow a build guide you might have more difficulty with the bosses and such.

I found the spark league starter witch build by ImJustAnthony pretty easy to follow personally.

let me put it this way: I have been playing rpg games my whole life, got tons of experience, my first poe2 campaign took me 80 hours, it was the most brutal gaming experience I have ever had

two times my build has been nerfed to the ground durign the campaign though, so that set me back

I think a 50 hours long campaign is a reasonable time for a complete beginner with no experience

you definitely have to learn builds, game mechanics, the campaign structure etc.

the game is extremely unfriendly for beginners

but if you make effort to learn it you realize why it's the best rpg around

so yeah, follow some guides, one person can do builds for both people, sure, I recommend lightning arrow, gas arrow if you can trade, essence drain

once you know how the passive tree, items, skill gems and support gems work I would say trading is the next most important thing to learn

Like if im using a lightning skill and i have 1 one spear with low lightning damage and 1 spear with fire damage that is a little bit higher. will the lightning one perform better since it matches the skills elements. It depends on the skill. If you have a skill that converts physical to an element, a lot of physical damage can be good. Matching the element of the skill with your weapon sometimes doesn't matter at all until you take things like curses, damage penetration, and ailments into account.

but if you have a lightning skill, odds are you take lightning damage on tree and otherwise invest into lightning damage. then a spear with flat lightning would be better than an equivalent spear with fire damage.

Hi, I've never been able to progress much in the endgame due to a very basic doubt regarding builds. Before creating a class to start a new campaign for a new season, I have to choose an endgame build that I like, so I can transition to that build. This brings up 2 important questions that prevent me from advancing and stumbling:

Some endgame builds are extremely expensive, and I don't realize they're that expensive until I'm already well advanced. How can I make sure I can afford that build? What do people usually do?

Once I know the endgame build I want, I would have to look for another build to easily complete the campaign and then transition to the endgame build, but even starter or campaign builds include items that are expensive to buy...

By default, people are notified for both PoE 1 and PoE 2.

if you care about making currency, realistically your filter will remain all-encompassing. if you want to figure out what people are playing and whats selling, you can use the trade site, poe.ninja, twitch, or here to get an idea.

as someone that starts with trade league i usually run the normal filter with some tweaks along the way, and then when i go SSF i will do the same until a certain point. once i have two mapping characters i may split their filters up slightly, but why not hunt for items on both characters at the same time? trade and SSF both encourage looking at everything, its up to you to decide whats actually worth your time and effort

Yes you could get a wild amount of damage from 6 jewel slots, but that means finding or buying said jewels so there's more than one trade-off. The other big one being lack of stats on your biggest defensive item, which doesn't matter as much in campaign especially if your other gear isn't terrible

by default every lighting damage can apply 20% shock effect (what equals to getting 20% more damage)
shock magnitude increases that base 20% of extra damage

there's no real "definitive" source on this... there's lots of creators, who have lots of ideas and opinions... some are right, some are... less so... some are geared towards new players, some assume a level of experience already with terms.

the best you can do is look for build guides that have "league starter" or "budget friendly" kinda tags or discussions

Noob question... I'm following a build that is working very nicely, but I don't understand what's the point of getting some passives on the tree on weapon set 2 if we use the same bow and quiver for both sets... can someone enlighten me? aren't the points consumed just the same?

if you use the same weapon for both sets of points, then you effectively have 24 extra points

more or less since only one set can be applied at a time

particularly I see they have Rigward's Ferocity support on Toxic growth, which gives you more damage when used with weapon set 2

I don't see they have weapon set passives allocated I might be colorblind

I'm playing a build I found on PoE ninja so I can't look it up, how do you decide which valley of the titans perk to choose they seem mostly the same result, more charm uptime, but I have no idea if there is a reason to do one more than the other

i am fairly certain, but just checking, as far as SSF goes, exalts are just to upgrade gear right? not as useful as non-ssf as in not a currency item
