Just focus on what you're trying to do with your current character and use weapons accordingly. And yeah don't hoard gear. Use stuff that gives life and resistances, look for movement speed on boots, and look for weapons that have better damage than your current one.

Yes. Base, magic (two stats), rare (4-6 stats). Don't ignore blues. Two good mods are better than 4 bad ones.

The rarity matters very little compared to the stats on the item itself.

White = normal = no explicit mods (aka affixes, aka prefixes/suffixes)
Blue = magic = 1-2 explicit mods (one prefix and one suffix max)
Yellow = rare = 3-6 affixes (up to 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes)
Orange = unique = Affixes vary wildly. They have unique effects. Most are very bad unless your build is specifically built to take advantage of what it offers.

A magic item with a good prefix and suffix can easily surpass a rare item with six bad affixes

If the item is a good base for your build (eg, bow for a bow build) and your current item in that slot is due for an upgrade, it might be worth using crafting orbs (orbs of transmutation and augmentation) to add some modifiers to it and see if it's an upgrade. But I wouldn't mess with that until you have extra orbs lying around

Seems like the XP from mobs prior to end of act bosses is pretty high. Running the Act 1 mansion 5 times, got me 4 levels... similar results on the Dreadnaught Act 2. Following up on this. After dying in HC, I tested this fight in SC. I got hit point blank 7 times, 3 did nothing (bug?), 4 times I got hit between 600-1300 damage.

the flat damage is the base damage, thats the 69-103

it has additional flat damage based on the armour/evasion on your shield

and the 220% is basically an initial mulitiplier of the base attack

shield wall does not use the damage from your weapon

thats why it has flat damage on the skill

basically if you want to do more damage with shield wall you want to have a high armour/evasion shield

if you want to make well optimized build with proper effectiveness to clear end game contents, you will need vast range of game knowledge, that will take a while of playing to gain

You can swap around the socketables in the sockets, you cannot add or remove the sockets themselves on the item after it's been corrupted.

and how i started making my own builds way back in poe1 was looking at different guides for roughly what i wanted to make, and then stealing bits and pieces from those guides and mashing them together in my own build, finding out what works and waht doesnt

Hello all, I have a question. I've had some bad luck with drops during Act II. Leaving me with very sub optimal resistances and literally no gold and only some resources to make blue items. Is it better to reroll and try again, or farm and hope for some decent items? The Act II boss is literally 2 shotting me 😢

Yeah, It does a truck ton of damage.

act 2 boss is lighting damage, you can ignore any other res and just shore up lighting res as close to 75% as possible
a ring and a couple runes should take care of that easily
less res causing you to take significantly more damage
can go back to farm previous area, nothing wrong of doing that
if you dont want to gamble, use the exalt drop for player trading instead

Also if you try to shoot and don't have ammo, it should try to reload your last bolt type automatically

hes reloading, he just high attack speed+skill speed and reload passives in the tree

And you just hold down crossbow shot and it will automatically reload on its own

No, it lets you leech from any damage type. Spell is not a damage type. I'm pretty sure the mana leech nodes say "physical attack damage", not "physical damage"

So you still need to use an attack or find sources of spell mana leech
