it is when you play bleed huntress because early game you stack strength and then once you get the right supports for other skills, you can stop doing that....I can't upgrade any of my other skill gems due to them needing dex while I'm stacking strength..it's killing me in so many ways.

this is another annoying thing. I have some exalts but no regals lol and I don't have the currency exchange because I haven't finished the campaign...so even though you can get level 2 support gems for like one regal, I can't exchange exalts for regals lol...this game is pretty stupid if you find yourself in certain situations. I didnt say anything about changing your entire build. I said change a few nodes to dex from strength and swap out a couple supports.

I don't think you get the build I'm playing dude...swapping out dex for strength makes the build suck more no matter what, UNLESS i get the supports that make the skills I need to swap to good.

and those supports are level 2

like it's better to run a level 8 gem with lower dex requirements than upgade it to level 9 and have to lose strength

You can use something else, you don't have to be e to rely dependent on that Shockwave strength scaling support, forget what it's called. I get the build. Many people are playing it. I'm playing something similar. And it's OK to try some different supports.

For PoE 1:

Elemental resistances are a critical part of your character’s survivability.

You receive a 30% penalty to all resistances at the end of act 5, and lose another 30% at the end of act 10.

Chaos resistance can be ignored while in campaign, but rises in relevancy the further you get to end game. Getting above 0% for maps is a good idea.

amazon once you get used to it is good. . . i'd suggest snipers mark early. and your first 2 lvl 2 gems being velocity and electrocute to put on lightening spear

LS in act 3 with volt + electrocute. . snipers mark will make your bosses a LOT less painful with storm lance

rake + stomping grounds will murder all of act 1 easily. and transitioning into lightening spears around half way into act 2 isn't a bad idea (mostly storm lance in AoE. paired with explosive or the new assassinate skill to generate frenzy charges). . with snipers mark + storm lance for bosses. once you get 3 level 2 support gems the build fully takes off. a bit rough till then

Depends on the skill(s) you're using. Look at the tags on the skill(s). Increased damage of those types usually helps. And as purduchi said, +levels helps too. If you're using spells, cast speed also helps. If your spells hit, then crit chance/damage also helps.

I'd recommend holding alt and clicking on keywords to learn more about what they do and how you might be able to scale stuff.

Have lightning res and out maneuver them. Rolling doesn't work as well with them and I tend to try and outrun them. Movement speed on boots is very helpful.

Personally I'd recomend just winging it. the game is relatively forgiving if you make mistakes. you can redo large portions of your passive tree, craft new items, and all new skills that drop for you will be levelled as well

the best tips would be to look for items that drop with a level requirement near yourself, then throw some of the crafting currency at them

This I get, and it's how I played the first go around before huntress. But it's a slog and a half, especially lately getting my ass handed to me, refreshing mobs on the map, and getting mauled again. Plus, huntress takes so much set up that I have to be doing something wrong. That's why I figured it'd be good to at least read through a reputable guide for new players in order to get a better handle on how to play well/equip well. Shooting in the dark hasn't been very fun so far.

For example: you said play with crafting and if it ends up "good," use it. Where would I learn what's actually good? "+ to skill" seems really good based on what I've seen from videos, but that's about all I've gleaned and it's hardly enough for me to pick and choose what gear is solid to use.

Not rare at all since you can craft an item up to that with orbs. Idk the ratio of affixes on rares that drop from enemies. They're not terribly uncommon tho

• You like elemental resistances in your gear, they will help you survive, plus having all resistances at least capped at 75% (yes, chaos too ) is a hard requirement when you start mapping
• You like movement speed in your boots. Max is 35%
• You do not like to spend good currency drops for crafting during the campaign (divines, exalts, chaos etc. ). They are important to trade for your first gear pieces when mapping.
• At some points in the campaign you will encounter a gear check. Basically, your items do not have the required resistances or damage to carry you. You can always fix this by farming.
• Build checks are harder. Especially when you start mapping, you will start to understand that you need follow some kind of build, that is to say everything about your character, from class, ascendancy, items, passive skill points to your skills gems should have a very specific reason to exist and also compliment each other. You can follow a build of someone else or try and make your own. It's gonna be hard first time around and you might brick your character, but if that's what you wanna do just do it.
• I personally started to understand the basics of poe by following a guide. It's training wheels, but it did help a lot.

My struggle is that there doesn't seem to be enough clear information in-game to really help me go from weak to crushing it besides "try something that ends up sucking, then try again." I'm the type of player that wants to know the basics in order to capitalize on my own understanding, but at launch there were literal droves of "guides" with bad info.
