It can be hard to do your first go-around without prior knowledge, if you do plan on it do some research, especially about your ascendancy choice and obviously your skill gems

Unfortunately they reworked the chaos spell monk would use normally (Hexblast) into something unusable as a main skill

it says its an attack so anything that affects attack speed or skill speed should help

martial tempo is one. There's also a support that lets you consume frenzy charges to get more skill speed. Not sure if it lets you support channeling skills, though

It's not made 100% clear. We don't know if damage is 1 to 1 like that, it's likely isn't since player spells have different freeze bonuses and such, I'm sure some monster abilities do too since they play by the same rules.

for support gems i'm using Expedite (explodes faster) and Overabundance (can have two Spears out at the same time instead of just one)
a problem that Explosive spear has is that if you throw another spear if you already have one out (or 2 with abundance) the oldest one is deleted, so you need another skill to use while you wait for it to explode, i'm using Rake but it'd be fine to just hold the parry button if you want.
I also got Painter's Gloves on bcs i like doing rainbow damage 🙂 (also so i can use battle frenzy for a few free frenzy charges every once in a while) (and also enables Herald of Thunder)

Dreadnaught Vanguard was actually a great farming area. Easy too just checkpoint warp back to entrance when at Jamanra. Waypoint create new instance and restart vanguard map. Usually had several rare mobs. Got bunch of skill gem upgrades and quick xp

25% increased Stun Threshold.
30% increased Elemental Ailment Threshold.
25% increased Mana Regeneration Rate.

They did make elemental ailments more dangerous, so maybe that?

CHeck the shop to see if there is a grand life flask, as those start spawning at level 16.

Then if you get an increased chagres roll, you can press it like 10-11 times, plus whatever amount of charges you get from killing the small wolves.

If that is not enough, its more a question of practising avoiding his moves.

There are no swords and no guns in the game, so my gut answer is no. But there are ways to combine martial and arcane combat. You can weapon swap pretty easily.

There are also trigger gems that let you hit stuff in melee and charge up casts of spells that go off automatically

The only melee weapons right now are quarterstaves (2h), 1h maces, 2h maces, and spears (1h)

No guns, but there are bows and crossbows

And also grenade skills

Not sure what an artificer does in your head, but there's an ascendancy of the ranger called pathfinder that has exclusive access to "concoction" skills which are effectively a volatile potion you throw to inflict various ailments and deal damage at the expense of your flask charges

The trial of the sekhema is actually pretty rewarding even if you fail it. During the run you can also get relics that make future runs easier. You also get unlimited tries until you succeed with Balbala's Barya. So I'd say go for it. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain

difficulty spike will come later in mapping, but you can ease that by not stacking ridiculous amount of modifiers you cannot currently handle
