You don't really. If an order for a ratio exists you will instantly get the other currency.
If it doesn't exist it will list your order until someone meets the same ratio other way round iirc

Right, you have 3 to 4 options:

1. Be lucky and have one dropped
2. Buy an item with base stats and craft with the orbs
3. Gamble your money with Finn or whatever latest Act NPC you have available
4. Trade orbs via the trading page against gear

On a low level I only did 1 and 3.
Trading can work but I only started doing that towards the end of act 3 to get something for the few Exalted Orbs I found so far.
Crafting in early game is very painful, so not sure I would advice to do that.

At some point I had so many augmentation orbs that I stopped converting blue items to them and just sold everything I found.
That gives enough gold to gamble a bit.

With the gambling you could be lucky and get yellow, that's one above blue and the most common you will wear.

PoE has the option to swap between to weapon sets. Doesn't mean you should. If a build later down the line can make use of that then sure. Iirc PoE2 specifically added Weapon Slot Skill Points so you can skill into the passive tree slightly differently for the two different weapon sets.
I haven't made use of that yet with my monk and ranger.

It basically gives you access to skills from that weapon type too. The skills will swap weapons for you so it's not something you actively manage swapping

I have just started trying out cast on shock, but I am not seeing a lot of energy buildup. I have invested a bit into shock buildup on the tree, but nothing on the gear yet. Still, I can get maybe 3-4 procs on a boss. I am using ARC which has a low cast time, supported by impetus.

Is that correct, and I just need a hell of a lot more investment into shock chance, or am I doing something entirely wrong?

You can also order your minions to move to specific spots and stuff if you want to try and keep them out of harms way.

Depends in what context, but usually for gear, corrupting can change gear, adds a slot or implicit, change mods, etc. Changes can be good or bad. Can only corrupt once, gear can't change anymore afterwards

Not specifically directed at you, but I wonder if actively joining someone to defeat a boss during campaign is actually that useful.
The bosses, especially in the first 3 acts, can feel like a wall, but that's almost entirely due to being under-geared.
At Doryanin you should have a few exalted orbs, so you could go over to the trade page and find some 1 Exalted Orb upgrades for most of your slots. They will cause you to literally melt him in seconds.

With my Monk I died when I reached the end of Arc 3. After unlocking the portal thing, I suddenly didn't deal any damage and got 2 shot.
Of course my gear was 20 levels behind, cause either nothing dropped or I sold it not really thinking about it.
It took one 1 Exalted Orb Weapon upgrade (sorted by highest damage and with some matching modifiers) to steamroll through it.

Helping someone with a boss might just only get them 1 enemy further, cause their gear might still be too far behind for the next zone (is basically what I'm trying to convey).

But that's subjective and my own experience. I mostly made sure I have enough money to respecc and gamble, and otherwise simply ran the last maps I could to get Exalted Orbs for trading.

Really depends, late game monk/invoker is one of the strongest late game classes. And then merc can go different ways. Witch Hunter is ok, it has a decent scaling build if you go heavy with grenades. Gemling can go much further with stat stacking but that’s more of an alt character than a brand new character.

The drop rate scales with difficulty too and with proper modifiers

The third ascendancy can be obtained also by doing the trial of chaos

You don't need to do the trial of sek

Trial of chaos is more melee oriented in a way compared to trial of sek

Trial of sek has the honour bs which means for melee it is much harder
