There aren't runes in poe1

But theres bench crafts

You can slap on 1 of most stats in the game onto an item with an open affix, and change it for 1 scouring orb + cost of craft at any time

So in campaign, you can find a decent item, and slap on 15+ resist guaranteed. If you find another item and lose resist cap, the bench easily covers that missing resist

Might be a bug then. Unequip and re-equip your weapons. I think I saw an issue where your sceptre also needs to be in your off hand (right slot).

skills namelock on enemies and many don't actually aim properly when that happens. In these types of games you usually want to shoot or attack right where your mouse or cursor is but they forced namelock on which overwrites where you are aiming

Because it converted everything to mana, its stun threshold basically guaranteed that you get stunned from every hit. Its based on life by default, with some passives on tree that help energy shield get stun threshold too. But Eldritch batterying all that ES away to mana means both of those stats are not contributing to your stun threshold so you have no way to avoid them

The best possible scenario I've been able to come up with to justify it (like trying to Devil's Advocate away my frustration with this feature) is that they wanted to give you more mobs to kill, so you would naturally get more XP without having to go back and grind, so that you eventually would progress naturally throughout the area.
They might have believed that repeated dying was more preferable to going backwards and grinding until you could progress.
(Huge stretch, I'm just trying to imagine some reason the system was made this way 😒 )

So I've not seen this documented anywhere, because afaik it used to be a fixed amount. 8 for "sub-zones" (eg. caves that are only connected to one area), 15 for "connected zones" (hubs that connect multiple areas)
The answer I was given is that it's based on server load. Higher load = more frequent clears.

1. Just keep fighting it until you win. His attacks are avoidable for the most part.
2. Gaining extra levels doesn't usually do much. A couple passive points won't usually make enough of a difference.
3. Getting better gear is far more impactful. Movement speed on boots and as much life and resistance as you can, An up to date life flask with two good mods, and a solid weapon will do far more than a couple levels ever will.
4. If you feel the need to farm, that's just a symptom of a more systematic issue with how you're obtaining upgrades for your character. Pick up nearly everything and see if it's an upgrade. I'd also recommend checking vendors and transmuting/augmenting good white bases to see if they become upgrades. Once you've determined the items you've collected are not upgrades, then, in order: Salvage 2-socket items for artificer shards, then sell all your rares for gold, then salvage all remaining items with quality and/or sockets, then sell everything that's left for gold.
