No it's not. Ascendancies buffing things that can be useful for a wide variety of builds is a good thing, and there are plenty of nodes they could put on ascendacies that could affect minions also. Taking the same subclass for every minion build is boring.

it's more of a "having ascendancy that actually supports the archetype" rather than just boosting stats, like a few skills here and there, bone armor, asc changes that make diablo 2 necro possible (more of a fighter than a summoner type of deal)

well it would be odd for non minions to take minion/summoning ascendancy, it's about having options that actually enable or at least support the archetype, with branching (let's say melee necro, curse/smth else necro, ele necro)

I would imagine smth like a bone tyrant (at least witch says she will come back one day for that huge skelly boy). to me it just doesn't make sense to abandon that ascendacy altogether really. we are forced to take the only skill tree path for minion nodes anyway

It depends on your passive tree. There are nodes like "you get 200% increased evasion from your body armor" iirc. So in that case you'd need to prio evasion.

well if it's a mage related item, you look at the bonuses it provides for mages, spell damage %, additional spell damage stuff/type, +levels to corespondent dmg type skills, maybe some mana here and there, and the more fat the bonuses are, the higher chance you'll sell it higher/quicker

I liked sanctum, and mirror builds liked ultimatum because they could ignore all mechanics and profit.

The issue is I didn't touch sanctum until i was fully ascended and had my gear and build set up.
It is incredibly punishing so I prepped as much as i could to get into it every league.

Standard does not get the new league mechanic until the league is over, sometimes it takes a year for them to change the mechanic and make it ready for standard. Sometimes the mechanic does not even make it to standard.

You basically need to make a new character if you want to interact with new mechanics in new leagues. I think you will find that you have many ideas of builds you might be interested in, and new leagues are great times to try those.
