lets say your spell does 100 cold damage. you equip the staff. your spell now does the 100 cold damage but also does 18% of it as fire, in this case an extra 18 fire. result= 100 cold, 18 fire

just fyi, minions do not benefit from damage stats unless the stat specifically specifies minions in it. I believe support gems ignore this rule if the minion uses an attack/spell that would benefit from that support

I might be a total noob here, but based on looking at the tree, making poison viable as ranger doesn't seem likely at all. Since you want chaos damage, and the nearest nodes for chaos damage are insanely far.... Idk man.

That kind of information is often complicated, and usually dependant on the enemy's stun threshold etc.
Its a formula with both player and enemy stats in mind, so they can't give specific numbers in a stat window. That said, should be available on a wiki once those get set up
