I mean... you can make it work but they increased the energy shield recharge rate quite a bit since PoE1. Energy shield also doesn't lower the amount of damage you're taking. Armor reduces physical damage. Evasion prevents you from taking a hit altogether. Energy shield just recharges and it recharges slowly.

in short go for armor + life early. Energy shield is rough in poe2 because the start of recharge was increased substantially. Later on you can switch to energy shield and lower the start of recharge time through the tree.

To be fair, class preference and objective boss design are two completely different avenues of discussion. Anyone can claim any class is good or bad because their build can be done in a million different ways, but the boss design is one singular thing that cannot be changed and it has very clear flaws that anyone who has any level of understanding in terms of basic game design will notice.

weapon set points are a little weird... the zero next to skill points means you have actually allocated all your skill points, you have zero skill points available. The 4 next to each weapon set indicates how many points DIFFERENT each weapon set can be, but you don't have any unspent points. So you can select weapon set 1, refund 4 points, and then spend them, and they will be different to weapon set 2. It's really confusing.

no, you didn't use the points on accident. "weapon set skill points" really just says how DIFFERENT the 2 trees can be, it doesn't let you make either tree bigger. If you look in the chat when you use a book that rewards 2 weapon set skill points, it actually rewards 2 passive points AND 2 weapon set points. The only thing the weapon set points do is determine how different the trees can be

Hey, I am enjoying the game a lot so far. 14 hours in and in act 2. Does anyone feel like the game especially boss fights require a lot of attention and energy from you? Compared to other more chill games I cannot play this game for many hours in one go like so many streamers do. I need to take some breaks a lot, doesn't help that I got tourettes syndrome which affects my gameplay especially vs bosses. If no one has told you yet: you need to activate it under skill gems (g) then when you use any raise shield equivalent your shield will glow red for a very short timeframe and getting hit then causes the explosion

If you swap to one of those 3 trees you can REFUND up to 4 points and make that tree 4 points different to the others, but it doesn't make any of the trees bigger than they are right now
