Even if you speak about diversity in the playerbase, you make assumptions that are mostly built around a vocal subset of players that want one type of endgame. And the reality is that online communities select for a lot of the hardcore grinders. The more casual players that maybe play more games and only comes back when there's an update is also less likely to crashout on reddit.

Using learnings from a different system to inform a new system based on a different premise is a good way to stagnate.

There's one reason the gaming industry is rarely trying anything original. Because devs are too scared of backlash and beholden to investors. For once I welcome devs that want to try stuff instead of choosing the path of least resistance even if the conclusion is "well, that didn't work out in the end".

i'm open to them trying out stuff too, but there's nothing wrong with telling them "yeah this thing that you tried didn't work". There's some stuff that can feel like it has potential but is currently a little janky, and then there's things that are building upon fundamentals which don't really align with what the average grinding game playerbase wants. I think from just a game design perspective, towers aren't good. I think that level of setup to enjoy playing the game is annoying friction that makes me want to just close the game. It's probably also one of the least controversial opinions at this point and while the majority of the playerbase aren't posting on reddit, you do have to ultimately listen to some feedback. The majority isn't gonna all give you feedback somehow.

You can still have a vision where you go "idc about the feedback, trust the process" but the current state of the endgame is something even they don't seem to be pleased about and have admitted themselves was just something they threw together in a few months and want to fix in a lot of ways. To that end you can just say why you prefer poe1's endgame so that even if they don't copy poe1's endgame, they use the fundamentals it was built upon to build something different but that still satisfies those criteria? 🤷‍♂️

i hate rituals, i could never farm the omens unfortunately, they spawn in the worst map locations on purpose

Just so you know at least past 0.3.1., getting Ritual tablets was really hard and getting the rare Omens to drop was not that easy

They nerfed the drop rate in 0.3, but for 0.3.1 you're using them more often

Yeah, it is not easy at all. The best you could do with almost no preparations is to run logbooks or farm bosses. Some run sekhemas for grand spectrum jewels or some other rare items like against the darkness.

Simulacrum is also possible but it needs builds adjusted to it. No idea if bloodmages can run it, deadeyes certainly can't.
