depends on your algorithms within your code
a mod/bitwise calculation won't be the cause of a major bottleneck of performance

would look into C profilers, not sure of any myself but with other langauges at least, they will flag certain sections of your code that are being slow
you can then profile those sections in more detail to see the exact lines

Probs the best thing I can recommend is to get a very good and preferably long tutorial and just follow it. And then open yourself some documentation to go with it and search and read about everything you don't understand from a video.

Go slow and little by little and test things and stuff like that

But if you have really no programming knowledge start with python or just pure JavaScript, before moving onto Node.js and it's libraries (I'm assuming you are using discord.js library)

Just let your client grab the clicks whenever it needs them and it'll show accurate click counts

If you're going for high performance the waiting can be skipped and the resetting of the click count can done in the retrieval of the clicks, assuming that happens exactly every one second. Otherwise this should look very nice
