honestly it really depends
Instead of focusing on how "difficult" the syntax might be, you should try to pinpoint what you want to do

if you want to automate, let's say some daily tasks, you can start by learning python

python is simpler syntax wise, but I prefer Java for the things I'm working with
I'm using both of them though, but I started with C++ and then went over Java so Python now feels a bit weird to me tbf

both languages are versatile, have a lot of stuff they specialize in so it's ultimately your call

Hey Ennowyn! here I share my opinion.

First, you have to ask yourself what do you want to create. Here I made a list with the usual answers and programming languages that could work for them:

• Websites: HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Games: Python is easy to learn, though you can also go to Unity with C#, which are more advanced.
• Apps/Tools: Python is great for general purpose stuff.
• Minecraft Mods: Java

If you are unsure, I'd recommend you to start with a beginner-friendly language. In my opinion, Python would be a great option. There are plenty of free courses and webs in the internet, such as MDN's one. There is a course in Udemy where in 100 days it teaches you all the Python basics and several advanced aspects, you should check it out.

Then, get set up: install VS Code (or PyCharm for Python) and code your projects from there. You may also want to visit GitHub often to get new ideas, publish your code and learn even more.

Once you've already done this, you should learn the basics (in any language)

• Variables, conditions, loops, functions...

I recommend you to follow a complete course or a web page (MDN, for example). As I said before, there are loads of programming courses in platforms like YouTube, Udemy and MDN

Then, you should start developing your projects and learning from the errors you commit, publishing their codes in GitHub to get feedback and learn more.
