I’ve also kinda hit my limit with how good I can get with controller. It’s hard to maintain a consistent cps which makes it difficult to hold combos. Also a mouse will always have smoother aim than a controller.

What I tend to do, if it's a map that I know has no sources of iron in it, is rush the center to get the smithing table and run back to my team's base

In a pinch, I've smelted 18 iron pieces of armor, tools, etc to get enough nuggets to craft two ingots, then a smithing table
