I love how people still complain about the update, while not pointing to anything specific. What are we supposed to do, read your mind? "Old eggwars is better;" ok, how? Also, people are stuck in the "change is bad" mindset because they are too lazy to develop new strategies. Wouldn't it be boring to do the same, optimal strategy over and over? Go play a "solved" game if so. But there are many, legitimate grievances I have seen people have with the update; I just never see them talked about.

Old eggwars was the king of rushing strategies. Didn't make sense to go for diamonds, as you could get out-tempo'ed by someone farming other bases' gold generators for chain/iron armor. Not too sure how it was in 4's (more team-based gameplay and fewer teams complicate rushing) and megas (10 players per team, plus emeralds means that camping can outweigh rushing later in the game), but in 3's and below you could rush and win on gold gens alone.

It was hard to keep up as a new player, and no ibmm (input-based matchmaking) means there was almost no way to beat the pc player(s) in the game. Now, there is a lot more depth towards how to defend, as the addition of emeralds for upgrading gens and slower generators mean that rushing is a lot harder now.

They actually reduced prices, so you don't have to wait as long for many, individual items. To get every item used for rushing now takes longer though, and for the better. But not in team-based modes with few generators (in 4's and 10's, the problem is actually worse, since slow gens means more time afk on gens). You won't have the 999 year problem if you rush others, since you will also be gaining emeralds, which are highly valuable now.

I see, do you usually rush other bases first, than go to middle? I do the latter, and I always make use of diamonds. They totally aren't needed though most games, and just help to make wins more consistent.

Whilst I agree that controller players have smacked me around from time to time, this mindset is just short-sighted. We all have to make new strategies since its a live-service game; it happens with every update. If you don’t want to feel like you wasted your time on upgrading strategies, find a game that stopped receiving updates permanently.

Updates are to make the game better and to upgrade strategies, but are also made for a various number of reasons. Revenue, balance, player engagement, etc. I suppose the justification of gutting rushing strategies was in benefit for other types of strategies, which you should explore! An evolving game is meant to dethrone certain strategies over others; if the update so happens to affect your main strategy, that just means its time to evolve. You can argue for the health and balance of the game, but different strategies battling for the dominant strategy, is just part of the game.

I think they should balance prices per gamemode, but it would be too much to remember. That way, gens wont be hogged up all game, and some people can actually play the game. Though I like the new combat changes, makes the games progress instead of stalling fights for no good reason. Armor breaking past chain takes too long imo and depends on who sat on gens longer
