lemme rephrase. its preferrable to put your farms at the bottom of the world for space efficiency. islands block all light to anything below them (https://dictionary.com/browse/shade), so you start at light level 0. glowstone does NOT emit enough light to ensure all blocks in a 9x9 square around it are at least light level 9 - so you will have to play more in between.
