First it wont, second get pigs first. Creepers will take too long with just melons and also pigs have a way higher price-earning efficiency. You pay 16 times more for creepers meanwhils you dont even get double the money output

fortune gives the chance to double drops, from level 1 (10%) to level 10 (100%). at level 5, it will double your drops half the time. that being said, you COULD get 10+ melon slices sometimes, but silk touch is way more reliable, and you can even get fortune with silk touch to double the full melon blocks. i could be wrong about the fortune rates but that's what the wiki says, so blame the wiki if I'm wrong.
