Spawners have a spawning range of 9x3x9 with the spawners being in the middle. Spawners will allow mobs to spawn at the height of the spawner, 1 below the spawner and 1 above the spawner

if you have them floating add something like open fence gates around the spawner and it would act as a platform for them to spawn

a homemade one that i would build is just like a 7x7 platform with walls at the ends and lava in the corners of the box so the mobs flow to an open corner. This open corner would have signs and then the mobs would just push each other off and fall down a tube and into ur killing area with hoppers. i can't send screenshots here so i hope this helps

i don't think i've done this task yet but i would just get a bow, a bunch of arrows and shoot them down. or build an L shaped platform really high up and stand on one end of the L and let the spawner be on the other end so you just keep spam swinging and hitting the spiders down and they'll die to fall damage and u'll get the credit for killing them without dying to posion

i would honestly recommend getting a few level 1 spawners, i was using 3 and not even having a drop. just a spwaner with lava flowing cuz the wither skeletons don't burn and then farming them with at least looting 4 if u wanna finish the quest really fast. i use a looting 4 sharpness 3 stone sword and it gets the job done very well. got 10 heads in like 10 mins
