Is there any official documentation on spawner mechanics? I tried to do some testing (bedrock) and from what I've seen it seems like the gap between mob spawns is either 12, 15, 18 or 21 seconds. (With maxed out spawning spaces - if there aren't enough it seems to go up to 21 seconds and then restart the timer). Just wondering if this is accurate/if anyone knows any more relevant information about it?

This seems to be the rough amounts of mobs per timeslot. I only did 40 mobs so presumably a large margin of error.

Well have you even used all available spawnspace? Because for example in a maxed out fencegate farm or a maxed blazebomber, spawncycle is roughly 3 seconds and hits mobcap most of the time

Results from ~35 minutes (127 spawns) of spawner testing on bedrock. 'Spawn Time' is the time difference between consecutive spawns for a single cow spawner with max spawning space. Seems to indicate an even probability distribution.

The spawner towers are 54 spawners high

And then the gap between each spawner is 4 fencegates

Basically every 3 seconds (or 60 ticks) on cc, there's a spawn call for every spawner. This keeps all spawners synced. Each spawner then runs a probability function on whether it spawners mobs or not, (i dont know this percentage yet but can easily be tested if you want to find out). This runs every 3 second cycle call.

All it means is in order to get maximum time efficiency out of a farm, you have to kill the mobs within under 3 seconds from spawn. The rest is irrelevant hence why I never worked out the % for spawn on the cycle

If you'd like to work it out. Take 1 spawner, leave it for a few minutes (as they have a cooldown after being placed) then start counting the amount of cycles (you can do this by taking the time for them to spawn a new wave and then dividing by 3) and do this for a few hundred spawn waves and then average it out. From that you can derive the probability on spawn upon cycle call

Make sure you kill the mobs quickly though to free up the spawner, so have a drop for fall damage

But if your data says its between 12 seconds and 21 seconds then thats new data which is great

Not according to what I've seen. My data suggests that there's effectively a 12 second cooldown after the previous spawn, then a 1/4 chance of spawning; 3 seconds later a 1/3 chance of spawning; 3 seconds later a 1/2 chance; and 3 seconds later 100%. (Assuming maximum spawn space). Then again, it could easily be down to java/bedrock differences.

Admittedly all of this is fairly inconsequential

But it would suggest that you actually have 12 seconds to kill mobs, which may give more leeway to farms?
