That’s literally how you make green dye tho.. you put it in a furnace and let it smelt. If you want lime dye, you take the cactus dye and mix it with white dye which can be made from bonemeal. If you don’t have skeletons, make a compost bin and put excess seeds in it

Rotten flesh isn’t really worth it at all and I think the best thing for xp from spawners is upgrading them to higher levels cause it increases the xp drop
