No you don't get extra gravel, but you increase the chance of the gravel dropping flint.
Then replace the gravel and get the flint until you harvested all the gravel.
However much flint you need is all the gravel you need. Just replace all gravel until you get the flint

With both the snow golem and the iron golem....I just punch them off the platform to fall to death. You get credit for the kill just not the loot

Or you can make a snow golem trap of 1 block ×2 blocks tall. They can't escape or see you, but you can attack them

At level 30, I don't remember if zombies have armor or not, but I think 30 or 35 blocks of height would be enough with a stone/iron sword enchanted with smite
