The babies can only fit through one block gaps. Have to have atleast a slab or half a block between you and them..
However if you have cave spiders. They will fit through a slab. Use a fence with a upper slab ontop. That gap can't be breached. But who wants to farm spiders for exp xD

Nah the fortune effects on gens and crops.. Anything with a timer or server placed stuff use the 10% fortune per level doubling chance. Sulking and placing it uses fortune as it's originally works on those placed ones

Id make them spawn as usual into a lava pit pushing them into a corner. That corner being chests with a water bubble column at the 1 pixel edge. Something like that can be fine tuned for amount to edit until it's 1 hp. As spawners work at just about any Y level. Would also be consistent damage
