Melon farms are much worse to make, have a lower cap of 142mil per hour (assuming you mine 1 melon every game tick) which is almost impossible with regular movements, so it's way below that realistically

Then you also have the fact that you have to constantly repair an axe for it

And then you have creepers which is what the end game players use which currently goes at 270mil per hour in the best farm (my design)

The only advantage to melons is effectively 0 start up cost
