The fact that you were able to get a couple k of xp should have been a dead giveaway, though I've replied to my message stating that this is a bug. With this the players at the time of that conversation were made aware of this fact. If you doubted if this was a bug you can always open a ticket and ask, though actually reporting one would need to go through the forums.
You may have spent some time creating the farm but I'd say in that time it took for this to be resolved you've made your moneys worth in xp.
Public bug board is something we looked into some time ago but isn't as easy to incorporate into our system as it sounds. It's something that may be looked into again but yea.
