In the sky, you have spawners (as high as you want to make a pillar of them, even multiple pillars work) you do a 9x9 of open fence gates around each spawner (closed if they are creeper, skeleton, pigman, zombie or wither skeleton). This creates an instant fall system, most people would then use hoppers and chests but if you have hundreds of spawners in these farms like we do at end game for our money farm, we make something called a manual sell method where they land on a semi block ground, the items fall through into water bringing it straight to the play to sell

1. Obvious but it can destroy items
2. Can't see through them so it makes the farm a little more annoying and makes it harder for the pigmen to see you therefore lowering any future rates in higher spawner farms.
3. Cacti doesn't pierce armor/nor protection, so with higher level spawners, itll take multiple hits just to deal half a heart of damage, this is the biggest reason, this automatically kills speed.
4. Due to the cacti not being able to be placed next to each other, you can only get 50% kill area coverage meaning if you were to have the amount of spawners I have, Due to hitbox pushing ect, around 50% (minimum) of the pigmen at all time will have their hitbox not touching a cacti making it half the speed on top the previous loses

if you need to make a farm and don't know how many blocks the drop should be you can use this formula

Multiply the hp by 2 and do +4

That's the amount of blocks it needs to fall to die

If you do +3 it'll have half a heart

This is correct until a point. Thats the formula for vanilla. But when you add in protection armor and armor, it gets more complicated

So while it works for lower levels, it doesn't work for high level spawners due to protection enchantments on the armor pieces

And due to the level variation on spawners too, you can never get every mob from a spawner to half a heart
