the spawners are seeing the inbetween the fencegates as a spawnable space because the gap is big enough for creepers, yet for mobs bigger than that space wont spawn (anything thicker than 0.75 blocks such as pigs). its possible that this has always been in the game. since it wont work for pigs, cows, sheep ect. yet itll do it for stuff such as zombies, creepers, chicken, ect @west warren @compact lark

this happens in vanilla too. its done with iron bars and this would work with iron bars, glass paynes, basically anything 6 or less pixels

and i know it happens in vanilla because you do it in bedrock to mark out pillager outpost spawn spots, nether fortress spawn spots, ect. and its always been in the game. its technically not a bug
