Q good way to think about it is. Spawning availability. If you have a 10x10 you have 100 possible spots for a pig to spawn meaning in that area, 100 pigs can spawn total at the same time before falling. If you have a 2x1 for example then you have 2 avaliable spots only allowing for 2 max before falling

The spawners have a max spawn rate. If they are dropping from lower points then they have more health meaning the cramming takes longer to kill meaning the spawners can't spawn again. And you'd still have a max when you reach the max height they can drop from
