you need to plant them on normal terracotta blocks

Its just to do with server version being 1.12.2 while your client is trying to display text changes that was made in 1.17 so the signs dont know what to do and go blank

I'm actually not the one that made them. Someone else made them as I'm not quite knowledgeable on crafting banners xD We've flags hanging in the hallway of each nationality of our main island members as a nice little reminder how it brought us together.
