i was going for iron sword, i asked because i got a feather falling VII leather boots and it didn't give any more fall damage protection than feather falling IV, so i assumed that over-enchanting an item wouldn't give any better effects

btw, dont go for iron sword, it's not worth the cost and the xp cost tbh (for me)

Just go for a Stone smite sword and then switch directly to a diamond sword

for making this straight, you can spend:
5-10-15-20-25-75 for smite 6 (stone) and
15-30-45-60-75-100 for smite 6 (iron)

the main difference is just the durability (and you can add it (even lvl1) and it goes up to 261 durability), better than an iron sword
