Nah, i built a mini lava pool and a platform in front so whenever they spawn i shoot them into the pool

Fortune pickaxe, with Fortune 10 you always get 2. Also witch farm there is a glitch that when hopper collect stuff it count x10 towards quests, haven't tested witchs but works with wither skeletons( skulls, bones and coal quest.)

Looting sword will help a lot.

Looting 4 is like fortune 10 on mobs

Only mob Looting doesn't seem to work on is magma cubes.

You can actually be almost invincible with blazes if you crouch in front of them with your shield, Sometimes the shield is invincible also.
