I believe a reason end update isn't going to be the next update is that barely ANYONE reaches the nether and yet the end of it. The End update would effect less than 5% of people and less would come back. I think the idea is to add more overworld islands and make different paths like after jungle you unlock desert or ocean and can do island branches to expand the grind to a 4 by 4 then a 5 by 5. New biomes and blocks and ideas could be expanded. Also finally making the nether a 3 by 3 would come after that. Tons of content could be unlocked with just adding biomes even if they add 1 mob and 2 blocks is still a massive win. Like a red sand biome, you could get renewable red sand stuff.

A lot more players would come back

and player island visiting but thats a no brainer

Best you can do to prevent it is to reduce lag as much as possible, so basically have your generators away from your mob farms

There is a theoretical maximum that's based on how much hoppers feed into your storage directly. each hopper gives roughly 7000 items per hour so roughly 2 double chests for 1 hopper that connect the collection hoppers to the storage hoppers. If the hoppers in the collection are filled, add a few support hoppers under them to help the flow of items get to storage

All you have to do is build a tunnel with the correct height, replace some blocks in that tunnel with spawners and place buttons on the internal parts, it can be on the spawner itself
