Even as a 1.9+ player, I’d argue that it’s a factor. Especially since some of the gamemodes were made for the faster paced combat, and do not work well with the current system (the most notable of those being eggwars).

Although it definitely isn’t all of it, 1.9+ is definitely growing in popularity, even though cubecraft java isn’t.

imo what cubecraft needs is a bedwars like gamemode that’s better balanced for the current pvp system. Eggwars is great and a classic, but ignoring the combat it can be very overwhelming for newer players. Your armor is gone on death, there’s a lot of different resources to keep track of, a huge amount of shop items, and all that on top of the hunger system. Something that’s more casual, while still being able to be competitive.I have a few ideas I’d love to share but I already typed out an essays worth of stuff lol

Cube knows that java will die soon and I doubt they will commit their time into making an update that can split the player base even more

It's just dead for a huge number of dumb decisions on cube's end but even if not them java in general is loosing numbers to bedrock

While the java server has definitely severely declined in players, I will admit that, there are definitely gamemodes like duels and skywars that are still more than playable. I remember when among slimes came out it definitely boosted the playerbase because there were content creators actually making content on the server. Honestly that's all that cubecraft needs. A popular gamemode (like bedwars) in the new combat system. I don't imagine it'd be a huge amount of work as they could reuse a large majority of the current code that they have

the game needs to be less gear dependent, and gapples need to be replaced with something less overpowered

There are many ways to combat normal pvp mechanics in that game, TNT, bows, literally just being good at defending, but the problem is most people just want to build to others in half a second and end the game as soon as possible, going as far as being pissed when someone kills with a bow

I like the bows, and with the addition of the shield I think they're pretty well balanced

the problem i have with the game is that fights are long and drawn out, with people being able to chug gapples and heal faster than people can deal damage to them

which is why trapping or 10-20 minute long fights are the only way to kill a competent player who knows how to use a shield

its my favourite gamemode in all of minecraft

mostlu bc of the custom items

and i think it is really fast paced

compared to something like eggwars

bc its all about sword combos and its really stupid to use and axe most of the time

and the best part is that if youre skilled you can take out basically anyone while being severely outgeared, usually by taking advantage of the custom items

Well that's just Microsoft's fault for promoting bedrock edition instead of Java

That way all the new kids got bedrock bc they didn't know the difference

And Microsoft wants to make money of off those children through the micro-transactions that bedrock features

I wouldn’t really say that’s the reason, Java is still very popular. I’d argue that it’s more so that cubecraft hasn’t gotten much attention on java at all in terms of content creators. Hypixel is dominating the market, and continues to do so because of the large amount of content being made on it online.

If you want to join a clan there are a few big ones with hundreds of members and some smaller ones
