The eggwars ui I think is fine but I don't think it should really be implemented into the game, the main reason being that most if not all of people who play ew have already been accustomed to it. It looks fine in lobby but I don't think it needs to be in game, so to still give it a sort of vanilla aesthetic when playing.

put those 5 commands in command blocks set to repeating and always active

and then have a command block that tags the player with "kit" using /tag

you can also make sure that their inventory doesnt spam by using the gamerule "showtags" and putting it false

with /gamerule showtags false

also to get rid of the command block spam use /gamerule commandblockoutput false
