You can even use 2 fingers to tap and not have to worry about where the fingers hit the screen, they always go to crosshair

Also easier to see where you are hitting/placing/breaking

I always hated trying to break obsidian and my big fingers are in the way of the breaking animation

However, pvp is not comfortable using split screen.
It's because you will have to point at the crossbar to hit a player, since moving around and hitting at the same time doesn't work, and in case the opponent is wiggling, you won't be able to hit perfectly or at least hit them.
I prefer having it off

if you have 500ping and the low ping player placed the block infront of them

and you are past that block on your screen with 500ping
