Resizing the pool of prizes to suit the number of participants is a good idea. I know it already happens to a lesser degree (e.g. they up it from 5 to 7 for 30+ participants) but that can be expanded if there's even more participants.

As for capping the number of prizes, 1 is probably a bit harsh but i think 2 is pretty balanced. The current limit of 3 (or 4 if there's crates) is pretty generous and rarely if ever gets reached.

2 as the compromise I think seems fair enough 😂

I think keeping it flexible according to the number of participants is a good idea, and I also agree that the same person doesn't need to win every. single. category. of prizes.

Would stacking the prizes and rolling the winners as a list would be a good alternative?

ie: names 1 & 2 = biggest value prize, names 3-5 = 2nd value prize, names 6-10 = 3rd value prize, etc. Or even just a variety of prizes, such as [#s] get tokens, [#s] get credits, [#s] get capsules, etc, etc. It could even incorporate a "participation" reward for those after a certain number/making up the bottom of the list. Small amount of LB or credits or whatever.

I'm not a very mathy person but that seems like an easy way to look at the number of participants and easily decide "we'd like at least 1 half/third of participants to win prizes, so how do we divvy up these winning places?

imo the random drawings for server events can be unbalanced but I get that it's random. It's more bothersome to me that the weekly leaderboard is nearly always the same people getting the same prizes.

Those are usually staff members and whoever spends the most time in #💬・general
General is simply not quality conversation most of the time, and rarely has anything to do with Tatsu... if you can say one or two words vaguely related to a subject and keep emoji usage within a certain boundary you'll never be accused of "spam" but on the whole most of #💬・general will be useless chatter and repeated meme conversation. Just because it's not a gif doesn't mean it's not a meme! Yes quality "general" topics do crop up as well, I'm not saying it's all bad. blobsquee But there's a lot of sudo-spam, and taking part in that is really the only way to "win" these prizes, so far as I can tell. ablobsweats

Anyway, we have a lot of great members that contribute a lot to the enjoyment of playing this game, are a big help to newcomers, etc. They aren't big chatters but they do contribute a lot.

Could the weekly leaderboard incorporate some sort of cooldown for winning, so that if you win one week you can't earn score for the next couple weeks? That way we could see more active-but-not-spammy members rotate through the leaderboard?

No, I agree that it wouldn't be good to try to implement a new reward system along those lines. Too messy. Going by activity makes sense, and that's why I was suggesting having a cooldown to allow more people to rotate through the weekly rewards. The post is about having a reward cap for server activities; I was just pointing out that is could be reasonable to make a leaderboard reward cap, too. ablobshrug

I do realize the staff members are not paid monetarily and personally I think they deserve their own category of rewards, a sort of "allowance" if you will that would not depend on them competing with the non-staff folk, lol. It could still be activity-based so that the most active staff members get extra reward bonuses. blobsmilehappyeyes
