#[PTB] I think the outline when placing objects is a failed experiment.

I'm sorry to say it. When this was introduced, I didn't think much of it, either positive or negative. But now that I've been subjected to it, yeah, I don't see any purpose to it. All it does is mess with your depth perception. And when you're advanced moving a subset of a prefab's pieces, it looks like a total mess (see picture), though I suppose that's a bug.

I know y'all devs are planning to add a toggle in settings for the outline, but if I were you, I'd just remove it outright, or at least turn it off by default. But maybe it's just me, let me know what you think.

From what little building I've done since it was implemented, can't say I'm a fan of it either. I definitely didn't feel like it added any value to the building experience.

it needs some adjustment asap

I agree. It only serves to obstruct the player's view when making small adjustments.

This thing is the stuff of nightmares.

It can be helpful occasionally, it’s just in desperate need of a toggle

Still no toggle or removal ...
Its absolutely messing with my sense of depth and perception while placing pieces, like misplacing a wsll by a whole meter ...

Yeah this absolutely has to be a toggle if not outright removed. Besides messing with depth perception, it screws up object placement too. I mean have you tired to align two objects with this thing in the way? It's a nightmare. I had to zoom in and carefully arrange the camera before placing an object (and then keep making camera and zoom adjustments to get it right) when before I could just eyeball things fairly easily. I'm sure this has its uses (even if I haven't found any yet), but I'd like it at least toggleable asap

It serves the purpose of highlighting the piece you're moving which is the last thing you need so I don't really understand the choice.

In addition to the outline, there is also this white cover that appears when you just select an object or a group
And as you can see it has some effects on colors and so the only way to change the colors while seeing what they actually would look like is to select the subjects and then enter advanced movement tool, which is an unnecessary detour
And again i dont see why was it added

It's all downsides

#

I swear this is the most baffling decision the devs have ever made

Sometimes I definitely wish there was a Option to deactivate it, because it makes it difficult if you need two Pieces touching but not clipping into each other

#

feesh just noticed, this was for Public Testing Branch. But since it's already a Feature in the normal Game, I guess my Post should be fine anywaysfeesh
