A touch pool for creatures like Trilobites, Crinoids, and jaw-less fish like Cephalaspis.
Then have a kind of education station where guests can use microscopes to observe the smallest organisms

When it comes to attractions I divide them into 3 categories so here are my requests for each group.

Track Rides - Jeep Tour, Boat Tour, Steam Train, Monorail, and Gondola Lift. (Basically the same ones as Planet zoo)

Flat Rides - Ferris Wheel, Observation Tower, Merry-go-round, Aerial Carousel/Red Baron, Egg Spinner/Spinning Teacups, Bumper Cars, Drop Tower, Swinging Pirate Ship, and Kiddie Coaster

Non-ride Attractions - Arcade, Education Stations (Touch pool, Fossil dig, etc.), Playground, Mini-Golf and Amphitheater

Kinda sad this thread seems abandoned all of a sudden 😕

Well, between more threads popping up and just about every suggestion imaginable have been proposed at this point, I don't find it too unreasonable.

Some zoos have face-painting but what if you give guests a rock or brick and have the paint it like a cave painting

I have a dire emotional need for a petting zoo, and JWE3's doesn't do it for me. Something like a little modular petting zoo fence to place wherever appropriate would be good, or maybe a small module that can be decorated however in a larger petting zoo area. A lot of Zoos I've been to have feeding attractions too, so maybe guests can hand feed branches to tall sauropods in an elevated platform or kibble to the raptors or something.

eager prism
#

I somehow doubt it just cause most of these animals are entirely able to bit your fingers off

trim elm
#

Yeah, feeding kibble to an animal with teeth designed to tear flesh from bone is an especially easy way to get yourself on the receiving end of a class-action lawsuit.

a house cat is domesticated. this is not a comparison that works at all.

I don’t think domesticating prehistoric fauna is the point

What they could do is include a module similar to the JWE3 Dinosaur Encounter, these could be attached to certain exhibits and must be manned by a keeper for safety. Only certain species like Protoceratops or Leaellynasaura can use it as an adult while some animals like Megaloceros or Parasaurolophus can use it as juveniles.

eager prism
#

A protoceratops alone could probably bite off a finger if it wanted to defend itself

#

Also no legitimate zoo would let you pet wild animals

#

Especially babies considering parents can range from dismissive to actively protective to a violent end

petting zoo is just not a good fit for a dinosaur game.

I do think that would be cool

But also those things are strong, I’m imagining that one video where a kid is carried off the ground by a giraffe but 30 times worse

This idea has already been floated a few times, but it would be great to have places where people could feed certain animals. Mammoth feeding is especially a possibility.

Idea! What if instead of a petting zoo, there could be "Encounters" some zoos have special "pay-extra" where they let you have a close up encounter with one of the animals usually under careful supervision and in a very controlled environment. Of course not all the animals would be compatible like the Trex or Smilodon. But animals like the Mammoth, Megaloceros and Parasaurolophus would do well.

opaque lynx
#

would go hard

thin plume
#

"Encounters" could be then divided into 4 subtypes;
Feeding - allows guests to feed non-aggressive herbivores like Apatosaurus or Megaloceros.
Petting - allows guests to touch certain animals like woolly rhino or Triceratops while the animal is separated from guests by a barrier.
Presentation - Compatible with Vivarium animals except Titanoboa in which a keeper will do an educational interaction with one of the animals similar to planet zoo
Finally the Photo-Op - compatible with most baby animals and Vivarium species, in which guests and the animal will pose for a photo. Although in game the Photo-Op is a guaranteed money-maker it is stressful for the animals and baby animals who are used by it often will be more vulnerable to disease and behavior problems later in life.

I know that's purposefully why I gave it the side effects I mentioned. I wanted to make using it a moral dilemma

# thin plume I know that's purposefully why I gave it the side effects I mentioned. I wanted...

Don't forget that those places also declaw and defang them.
They're crippled for life.
So afterwards you'd for example have a Smilodon that will never be normal, have extreme bodily problems, maybe isn't even accepted by a pack.
It would be a cruel and sad existence.
If they should ever include that, they should adjust the model accordingly by removing claws and fangs and add legal consequences where you'd need to pay a ton of money, get less visitors for years and might even get fined for cloning new animals for a few years.
Don't know if declawed and defanged animals in real life also have more health problems.
Maybe a possibility to research some special enrichment to improve the animals mental state.

I could also see this being a good campaign level in which you need to adopt a Smilodon into your park that was kept illegally after it was sold as a cub on the blackmarket and suffers from those problems.
Might end with either another Smilodon coming to the park that suffers from the same circumstances and can offer it company or by the animal building a strong bond to its keeper or something similar

PK has claimed to enhance conservation awareness. Adding attractions that allow direct contact with guests does not fit within those ethics. It's a feature I don't need to see as I'd never use it. The educational value of getting up close and touching a live animal does not weigh up to stressing it out. Will I boicot the game if it's included? No, but I'd think it a shame to waste resources on such a divisive feature

First, JW had a lab tour, and JP had something akin to that planned. Second, turning eggs is normal nesting behavior.

thin plume
#

We actually don't see the ride in the film but it's appearance in JW the game was based on it.

#

PK's version would probably look more like a standard dinosaur nest

# neon mauve So baby sauropods could be stuck to a shell?

🤔 don't know how it would work for sauropods. Not sure if it can be a problem with all vertebrate eggs besides amphibian and fish eggs, but I guess some eggs might be different since some species burry their eggs.
But I guess it would definitely be a possibility for non avian theropods.
Didn't properly look into it so I don't know if animals like turtles and crocodiles for example also sometimes have those problems.
🤔 Do we know what sauropod nests were like?
I could imagine them burrying their eggs because normal brooding might perhaps be a bit difficult

we need something that unique to the paleo zoo
something that it can be there because we are building a paleo zoo, it will not work if its just another zoo

I know a petting zoo is unrealistic; I need it on a deep spiritual level, however. At the very least, We need some sort of path with small fences attached to allow for a walk-through exhibit for smaller animals.

I think this manageable , in a zoo you would use bone to make guests the size of the animal before they see it

neon mauve

I had something similar it would be called "Hear Me Roar!" It would feature a panel of buttons and when pressed each would play a different animal's call.

a little odd taken that all guests are adults, but if it's an oversized hammock swing and superslide I could live with that

also trampolines (with ropes)
