Can I write a Weakaura that checks whether my companion can move/react or whether they can't? The point of the question is that this will be my last attempt to continue playing my Survival Hunter. My eyesight doesn't allow me to recognize when my companion is unable to participate. I imagine it like this: Out of range: Very bold red for me. Can't move: Very bold orange for me.

"Companion" means something specific. It sounds like you're talking about your main "Pet".
What circumstances cause the main pet not to be able to move?
Is this helpful 😉
It's always about the PVP situation. My companion (Pet Sarah) often does nothing. I press buttons three or four times, nothing. It's the marked buttons, the worst is the kill command. I tried weakauras, which simply track when the companion is stunned or when it's slowed down or something.
I just wish for red colors (for me everything always glows in the fight so that I can push, I don't really see it anymore), which tell me: Haha, your companion (Pet Sarah) is stunned or drinks a beer or or or
So you want a notification when those spells aren't usable?
Check if the spell usable trigger works for that, idk rn
If that doesn't work, and you want a preemptive heads up before you press it that it won't work, you'd have to outline every single thing that prevents it from working.
If spell usable doesn't work, but you're instead fine with a notification when the spellcast fails, that's easy to make.
That's not quite so easy, that's what I've tried. The magic begins, the circle begins to turn and then breaks off. That's totally annoying. Spell Usable won't work there. Yes, a notification would be enough for me (ideally via sound) that tells me "My Sarah can't do anything".. how often I lose fights because of it.. Honest is exhausting. I am away for the night now.
https://wago.io/fZN2k06eb here, that aura will report failed casts
see if that covers these occasions
in the custom options, you probably want to change the filter type to "whitelist" and then enter the spell names you're concerned about there
Right now it will also complain if the spellcast fails due to insufficient resources or the spell being on CD. But I can fix that later for you, if you tell me if it covers these cases you talked about in the first place.
Thank you, I didn't understand your answer until now, but now I've started the translator and understand what I need to try. I'll get back to you.
Hi, I have a LUA error now.
I wrote my german names inside (with 17 and without 17).
Ah yeah I forgot to remove the devtool line at the end
Either remove it yourself (actions -> on init -> custom -> the last line) or update the aura from the same link
I will try and come back after
Hm, it works, but not so like hoped. I will try and report more.
Thanks, my current problem is simply that I don't know what's happening with my companion. Why he isn't coming, and the WA keeps triggering when I hit the buttons. What would help would be: the companion is too far away, an alarm is triggered (which I've tried using the distance measurement), or the companion has something damaged on it, or the companion can't move or can only move slowly. My eyesight problems are simply making it difficult for me; I can't see the companion anymore, despite the marker.
And not knowing what's happening and why...that's really bad in PvP, really bad. I have one WA, or rather three WA, to intercept all of that, but...no chance.
I had listed the names of the debuffs, but I don't know all of them, and then I sit there and ask myself why I can't find my friend anymore....he was close to me and my goal is close too, but I search and search, pull down shift and mouse wheel so that he comes to me as /petpassive and so on, but nothing, it's as if the pet is gone.
I do understand your issue.
My question was if the WA covers these cases as well.
As I mentioned, right now it will also fire if the cast fails for other reasons (ability is on CD or you don't have enough resources).
I'm just curious if it also fires for the cases you talk about.
Because if yes, then I can adjust it to that as I said.
PVP in WoW has never been fair, and it never will be, but I, I, I, how should I put it? I'm a family man and I can't keep screaming, shouting, and raging when the game or the developers are supposedly screwing me over. If I can't get this issue under control, then I'll have to leave WoW, because marriage and family are more important than "when night falls from the hate and rage in the game inside me." That's the honest word of reasons.
Yes, it works in those cases, I think so, there was a situation where it was active.
Okay, I'm back at the PC in like 2 or 3 hours or so. I'll update the aura then, and you can tell me (tomorrow?) if it works.
Here, that's the update:
https://wago.io/fZN2k06eb
You have to overwrite the existing aura
But I also remembered that CLEU has a SPELL_FAILED subevent that lets you filter by fail reasons, which should be the cleaner solution.
https://wago.io/pPYIYE4Sm
Try both out and see if they cover what you want
I am trying
It works, but i dont know why my pet is away or cant do anything.
These WA can be worth for some hunters.
Yeah, as I said initially all I can offer you is something that tells you that your pet abilities failed (for reasons other than on CD or no resources)
IIRC you said that's fine.
For recognizing that your pet will not be able to do stuff prior to using it, I'd need to know all of those circumstances really as I mentioned.
Hello, thank you. I just need a "My pet is too far away, I can't do it"...that might be enough. I'm actually using your WA now, but the anger and rage always come when I press one, two, or three buttons and the pet doesn't do anything.
Ideally beforehand, something like "You can't press that now, press something else."
In my example, I'm playing like this: an aerial attack with a summoned companion using Coordinated Assault (40m range)... immediately followed by a Kill command or Intimidation. Both are also within a 40m range, but nothing works.
Or, quite classic, a large dwarf and the pet has to be on my enemy (because of /petattack)...but no reaction, surely stunned, rooted, held, banned, or whatever. And I'd like the buttons to be red, so I can immediately see: "If you press that button, you'll burn your fingers."
You would need fortune-telling software to know what I want, right?
Hello, is it possible to build something that does the following: The companion is within 40 meters of the target (not me)?
no
I'm close to giving up and playing another game, currently especially extreme with "jump at the enemy, press a pet ability...and notice it doesn't fire.
But thanks for always giving me help. This way I know better when I need to stop playing WoW because I can't go any further than Survival Hunter.
And please excuse me for always complaining a little to myself, but it's honestly a burden.
Ideally, a combination of green, yellow, and red would be used for "companion is close," "almost close," "too far away," and "the companion can't do anything." But my ear has been ringing for days now, because I've been using the previous WA, but... it keeps starting up. 😉
Hello, I have a new approach. I know how to measure the distance of the companion from me.
How can I make it glow green when the companion is between 0 and 40 meters around me, orange when it's between 40 and 50 meters, and red when it's 60 meters?
I tried using "Model" (image), but it doesn't quite work. What am I doing wrong?
It's supposed to replace the add-on range display, which unfortunately is partially defective and doesn't always help me. It might be possible that this will solve my problem.

I'm still working on it, and the two questions above would be very helpful.
But please take a look, this is also a small simplification I found online. It's certainly not up-to-date, but maybe someone else needs it?

Hi, how can I add an "OR" to the Weakaura above for "My pet can't attack because it's out of range"? Thanks.
It could be my solution, even if one or the other stun is not visible because the WA is old.
Do you perhaps have a list of all your stuns or rootings? The picture suggests to me that you have templates.
as I said a few times already, you can make a workaround if you know all circumstances under which it can fail. you said you don't have those.
you'd need an updated list of all relevant debuffs, and no there is no such thing as a command.
as I said, that is impossible
you can NOT know the range from your pet to the target
you can make a WA that warns you if the reason it failed was an range issue, which I made for you
Thank you for your patience and help. I'm not the smartest apple in the tree and didn't quite understand it.
I think, now, though:
I have to "marry" your Weakaura with the failures with the Weakaura I found online with the list of possible bad things.
I might be able to do that, I'll have to try it out.
It's going to take some time; I play for 2-3 hours a day, and it's not easy. 🙂
The "loss of control" effect of the other Weakaura, which would be great if you could apply it to the companion, would be great. But Blizzard prevents that, right?
The Weakaura I found online opened my eyes, though. It's almost constantly flashing up abilities on the battlefield that I almost never thought about, and the shamans and their rooting seem to be a huge problem, which I haven't really been able to counteract with my own Weakauras before.
