Hey there, I'm an absolute novice when it comes to this stuff, but I have a very nice computer but am experiencing very poor frames during raid encounters despite optimizing my setup for max performance. Based on my addon profiling, it's clear WA is taking up the majority of my resources but I don't really know how to read this WA profiling output to diagnose the issue other than "red numbers are bad". Any help figuring out what the problems might be would be greatly appreciated.

You did make this profiling while you had said issues of a single boss fight?
this is profiling for a different boss, but they're all similar
it's universal frame issues in raid
@random umbra any chance you could take a look?
Deathstalkers Mark Border 2026.64ms, 18.82% (4.34ms)
that's garbage. could you link the aura?
Combat Timer 1430.24ms, 13.28% (3.83ms)
that spikes very high for what it's supposed to do. might be doing something really weird.
also, don't use a combat timer WA. details and many other addons already offer combat timers, if you're concerned about performance then don't duplicate functionality when there's no need.
Last Player Cast 646.19ms, 6.00% (1.34ms)
that also has a very high total time and an unreasonable spike for what it should do. it's extremely simple. can you link the aura?
Smoke Bomb (PvP Talent) 240.01ms, 2.23% (2.01ms)
why does a PvP talent aura do stuff during a raid boss?
Dynamic Effects - LWA - Rogue
General Options - LWA - Rogue
these, and Luxthos auras in general, always perform very bad in pretty much every profiling I've ever seen them be used in. It's worth noting that this is not always the case, and they "should" only be horrible outside of combat. So make sure you're actually profiling in combat. If you are and they still perform like that, then don't use em I'd say.
Thanks for this response. I've actually deleted the Deathstalker's Mark Border, Combat Timer (replaced with a different one as I like to see a big timer near my WAs for CD purposes), Last Player Cast, Smoke Bomb (which is a part of Luxthos which ive just straight up removed)
The Dynamic Effects and General Options are immovable since they're in Luxthos which I know performs poorly, but I've gone ahead and trimmed basically every aura in his pack that I don't need including all the ones from the spec I don't play and buffs I dont need tracking
hoping that the combination of all this helps me out
out of curiosity, what is it about Luxthos that makes it perform so poorly? I've used it forever so it's tough thinking about switching to something else
All the stuff he does to break/go around WAs inbuilt options and offer support for his (technically unneeded) custom options is very performance intensive comparatively.
Most of that should only ever run outside of combat I'd say, hence my mention of making sure you set the profiling to only start on "next combat" or "next encounter".
this profiling started right before pulling a boss and ended right after killing the boss
so there would have been like a few seconds of non-combat on either side
As in, you manually started and stopped it yes?
yes
Then do it again by using the "on next encounter" option
To see what the Luxthos stuff actually does in combat.
can you tell me how to do that? I've never used that option
If you right click the WA minimap icon and click on the option to open the profiling window
You'll see a red button or smth like that in the top right that says "start profiling on..." or similar
You can select it in there. Not at the PC so idk how it's called exactly, but it's not hard to find.
Using that automatically starts and stops the profiling only for the next encounter.
gotcha i'll figure it out later today and run another test
I really appreciate the help
@faint pumice also speaking of combat timers, is there a way to take the one directly from details and like, put it elsehwere on my screen so its bigger and more noticeable? thats the only function I really want from it
rather than looking at the tiny number on the side of my details meter during a raid fight lol
Check it details allows that natively. As in: reposition and resize the timer.
If not, then you can technically do that. But it'd involve custom code and might run into some issues.
Hacking around in another add-ons functionality is basically never a great idea.
