this collab has more characters than the Smurfs and they’re even more interchangeable on that front, so there’s even less motivation to play or invest money in it unless you have that personal connection

And now as of recently, people are wondering why she has to be treated like his sidekick at all

The first is obviously that 06 has a lot more importance when it comes to Sonic discussion and the franchise as a whole than Rush does. 06 is nearly 20 years old, and is often a point of conversation when it comes to Sonic inside and outside of the fandom, and so when it comes to Blaze, a lot of people will think of 06 when it comes to her

The second is that, I don’t think most people find Blaze or Silver to be out of character right now like Amy is. Of course you can argue about the minutiae, but from a characterization standpoint, I’d say they’re more well off than how people talk about Sonic himself

The third is that, even if it’s hard to swallow, I just think a lot of people enjoy Silver and Blaze as a pairing, not even just talking from a shipping point of view. It also doesn’t help that they’ve been paired together constantly pretty much since 06 it comes to games and even Sonic media, so any new fans that enter the franchise will have the perception of “oh yeah, so they’re together”. It also ties into what I said before about Sonic Team themselves seeming to like the pairing, even if they do address Rush and Marine in their artworks and stories for Sonic Channel
