#My WIP City

Yes sir
Length is 400 studs currently
But I have plan to extend the length further
Fuckkkk
The train hasn't completed the loop yet
So you got, what, 9 x48 plates in length and 5 x48 in width??
12.5 baseplates for length and 7 for width
Well that's the outside
So ig around 87.5 baseplates supposed to be sitting on the table

I still have a lot of spaces to fill lol
How did you make space for that lmao
I sectioned my home theatre room
I'm about to sacrifice a quarter of my bedroom for a 3x5 x48 baseplate city
Basically take half of that room for lego city
I'm pretty sure I can add more spaces if I push all the desk to the wall
Right now, I want walking space for every angle of the city
Yeah I'd keep walking space for that size too
I plan on building a mountain in mine, in one of the corners
sick how big is your planned mtn?
nice
looks amazing š
Omg this looks so fun to look at
if you want a challenge, I have hid a Waldo minifigure in the pics. Try to find it
;-;
normal head or modled
And am I allowed to know which photo or if heās inside or outside
he's wearing a hat
should be first photo and he's outside for sure
Like a Santa hat?
he's wearing a cowboy hat lol
other than that, his outfit is the same
red striped shirt
lol bingo
bro is rich rich
can u show ur PokĆ©monās
I have added a couple more but have yet to capture a pic
There is no way you didnt know he was hella rich after you saw that city
I'm not rich because I buy a ton of lego
850+ sets and counting
A lot of the buildings you see
are just me lowballing the seller
and for some reason, they accept
especially for long retired sets
I get most used and retired sets for about 50% of the current market value

nah u all so lucky to have literal fucking lego cities
idk I just have a full time job and no life
jazz club without balcony mod spotted
i prefer the one without balconies tbh
same
Same
darn
Same
y'all all really not gonna even elaborate on why? or are you just memeing now
I don't like how it obscures the front of the building
Added 2 more ninjago buildings
I LOVE that mostly oink and purple biiiiiig-ifigure in your city! Is it a MOC you made ?
it's Galactus that I found on Rebrickable
Bought the instruction and bricks for it
Oh awesome! š¤©
Cool!
I think it looks mega mega awesome
thx
Here's a closer pic
Thanks! š¤©
I think it looks really really really really awesome
Where does the Silver Surfer come from ?
@merry timber Wpuld you Luke to see a bigifiguee MOC that I made?
sure
Ok
I forgot. Bought it a while ago
I'm not sure, I didn't make it based in any LEGO in particular, I just made it from my imagination
nice
Thanks
This is the back of ir (it does not look as nice as rhe front
:
:
just showcase it with the back against the wall, no one would see that
Oh yes, I wouldn't show the back to the public side
But it has been destroyed now

Becsuee I built it for a display in a charity shop and it got destroyed

This is literally my dream
Do you have any tips on building a lego city?
Start with choosing a standard base and stick with it
I would highly recommend MILS
Ok thank you
I need to learn about Lego
Ok now i know
Do you create your own baseplate or do you do something else?
Can you tell me about MILS please @merry timber?
MILS comprises of a baseplate layer, bricks, and plate
On the bricks layer, it has the technic bricks that u can use to connect all the MILS baseplates together
Also allows u to make baseplates that have features like a hole on the sidewalk or sth like that
Very useful if u want to integrate the current Lego road plates with modular buildings
Just look it up on youtube
does anyone have experience migrating a modular from baseplate to mils? how hard is it?
Not too hard. The baseplate is very flexible. All you have to do is bend it to grab the walls of the ground floor
Then rebuild the tiles according to instruction
mm
Shouldn't be too long
Some buildings will be more complicated than some tho
I can think of the Assembly Square as one of the harder ones
Lol i have that
w
Assembly square is hard because the instructions are shit and old style
Yeah
When you are making a drawing of your city, what tools should i use and anything else i should know?
Like tools to make the drawing
I just imagine and build as I go lol
No tool
I use stud.io to design some buildings in my city like the Teen Titans Tower
Basically I want to have a nice skyline as seen from my pier
So I put all the tall towers toward the water
And basically make sure they overlap each other as little as possible
Whats that program called?
microsoft office excel lmao
So basically keep the tall towers away from each other?
yeah or if you have to put the shorter skyscraper in front of a taller one, don't let it obscure the best feature of the taller skyscraper
like logo or what not
ok
Added these 2 to my city
love how the city is so full of action
everywhere you look there's something happening
Wow people are talking here again
This was a sick build and still is
Oh nah he upgraded it with some new sets to
W
Wait you built that galactis?
Yes sir. Using a rebrickable instruction
And I added some lights
š„š„
Nice nice
Here's some mod I made to the Daily Bugle
Pretty old vid but the layout since then hasn't changed much
How could u even afford this much legos?
Goofing off for a living š
Fr fr
nah I work as a software dev
ugh I think 20k would be more appropriate
The Galactus is a moc from Rebrickable and Surfer is BKB custom

The hoenn legendary trio in Lego is peak
What are all the little pokemon figures from
They are custom pokemon figs made by Liberty Bricks and MF
MF?
Minifigs Factory

wow
what are your table dimensions? Or what were they at the time of this picture?
about 300 cm
nice, i have most of the modular buildings but lack a proper table, so mine have to be very compact
I use the Ikea Linnmon
yeah same, i have 4 layed out in 200x120cm
but i got a lot of my large creator expert sets sitting on it too since they are too big for my shelving units
im also currently building the ucs venator and i have no clue where im gonna put that, it might fit on the shelves but ill have to see
sadly i cant
i keep my collection in a sort of outdoor shed type thing
i cant nail things into the ceiling or walls, really sucks
ah ok
i dont think i'd trust fishing wire to hold the venator anyways though š
you would be amazed at how strong the fishing wires are
it's the hook that might not hold lol
yeah it would be a bit of a nightmare trying to salvage and repair that set
would be a really cool display if i could hang it though, i'd hang my death star with it
Crunkle uncle wins the chuckle
Some more lights added
Thx. I have a lot of pop culture in my city
Your pokemon nice have inspired me to try to create my own, but accuracy is tricky
Added the ninjago markets
Some pirates problem near the city
Oh noes
Awesome! I love cities that people come up with! Always super unique and the story's you can create within it are endless. Well done!
Thank you
Shout out for the Titan's Tower!
Looks good 10/10
This looks awesome! Maybe ballast the train track?
Where did you find that groudon
Yeah I'm working on that
I bought the instruction from godturtle
Thank you
super tremendous
@merry timber i finished my lego london diorama, i think i spoke with you about it a while ago
That looks so nice
Yeah i rmb u told me about your proj
i cant wait to see how this will look in ur layout
@merry timber any new updates to your city?
It's kinda a mess rn bcuz I'm lighting up more building and repositioning couple of buildings lol
yooooo ur lighting?! sick
btw
have you considered expanding the sitcomplex alex nunes style
The extra half baseplate addon?
nah the height expansion
I'll definitely add more floors for it
cool! also pls consider starting a yt channel for the city lol
Lol
i wanna follow the progress
I'm repositioning it so that it looks good on my webcam as my work background first lol
YAY you are planning on it š pls notify me when you get it started
Yup I want to have most if not all of my skyscrapers to be visible
At least the famous ones
yea i rly like the ones you have
ive always wanted to build a mega daily bugle
i dont rly have space tho
That seems like a cool proj
But it would take me too much time to work on that now
Bcuz I would have to rerun all the wires for that building
I spent so much time wiring lights to that building lol
oh yea i forgot that you have lighting
do you make your own lights or do you use light kits
For the official sets except for the Daily Bugle, I use light kits
This is my Daily Bugle in case u haven't seen it yet
I do have a plan to rework the rope light on the "Y" so it doesn't look too weird
the live images look amazing
what did you use for that?
I built a bracket that fits an iPhone 6S exactly
I found that phone to be perfect for the Daily Bugle
oh thats really smart
have you csoniedered blinky lights or whatever bevins bricks uses
i heard you can light a modular yourself for $14 instead of buying the entire kit
hi rocket
https://www.blinkybricks.com/products/modular-building-light-kit Blinky bricks nvm, if youre ever tight on cash look into this
wsg tree
havent looked too deeply at it but its literally only 15 bucks lol
Ah that
Well that's still kinda expensive no? For my mocs, I buy bulk lights on aliexpress
And wires too
Sure
Are u keeping the interior empty?
this image shows how tall the finished model is, but the tape measure is a little bent so it may not be the most accurate
looking good so far!
yeah for now to cut cost
damn are those actually good quality
Sickkk
That's one tall building
can you link what you use?
Sure
will be the tallest thing ive ever made out of lego when its done
atm its the avengers tower
Nice

i should really pick this one up
tallest proper build i should add, ive probably made something taller than the avengers tower while pissing about as a kid
tysm
its really good, im not really a massive marvel fan and i still think its awesome
knowing my dumbass self id probably try to combine two avengers towers and end up breaking both š
This is the light I use: https://a.co/d/e5sTax3
i probably dont understand like 90% of the references in it because of that though š
Lol
if you wanna do that then do it with the bugle instead
avengers tower has a much more complex structure and build
makes it very hard to mod
The avenger tower itself is a nice building
to a significant degree
Architecturally
yeah, i totally agree
The only mod I can think of for that is to build the base building like in the movie
yea im going to
wouldnt be nearly as easy as doing the bugle
Oh yeah
i really wanna do it to my bugle but i dont really like to mod my sets lol
yeah it takes a good amount of bravery to mess around with such expensive lego
i'd recommend making it a bit thicker, not double the thickness of the default model though
so you can still add an extra level
and have it have 5 floors while being a bit thicker
im the type of person who would just try to make it as tall as possible
like 1.5 or 1.75 baseplates wide
and fail miserably
id probably make it a corner building
2x2 baseplates
thats actually a cool idea
build like a grey flatiron building lmao
doubt that would work with the supplied pieces
have you seen bevins bricks
lol he actually did that
I think my custom Teen Titans might be a bit taller than the Avenger Tower due to the raised baseplate I use
yea that looks rly cool
its straight up nyc yea
avengers tower looks so nice with the lights
i wanna light up my building but im still trying to figure out the best way to do it
its not designed to have wires go through it
the problem with lighting skyscrapers imo is the lack of interior becomes apparent
mine has trans brown windows so it should be fine enough
Old pic but this is what the lit up AT looks like at night
just... wow
also damn
even the aliexpress lights are expensive lol
apparently lighting is just expensive ig
Lighting lego should be a separate hobby lol
And it's not as enjoyable as building
That's why my lighting progress has been so slow
Lol
also am i the only one who absolutely LOVES this lego city
Same
lol fr its more the reward than the process
I love Bevin's city
severely underrated yeah
i also love bricksie's city
i wont lie i used to think that he wasnt a great builder
but hes gotten so so so much better
its actually amazing
yeah its really awesome
Also I really dig Matt's Brick Collection city
all his stuff has really nice lighting too because hes an electrician
Yup
ima have to check this out rq
Too much light = bad
this guy?
Hello There!!
Im Matt and I am a Lego enthusiast. You can expect all sorts of things on this channel whether it be Stop Motions, Hauls, and even reviews. I may even dwell into MOCs if you guys would like. My other channel is Bois and Bricks but I wanted to branch out and attempt to start a new channel so if you see reposted content for a bit it ...

This guy
omg the lighting is incredible
I like his TMNT lair
its cool but i prefer cities that have a lot of custom builds
by that i mean like custom modulars
and towers
his train station looks awesome
tbh it depends in my preference
for example
stein auf stein uses mostly the standard modulars
however
hes got one of the most detailed lego cities imo
yeah but it would look so much better if he had custom modulars
like brickcrafts
the thing i find with the lego modulars is that they arent very realistic looking when placed in a layout
because in real life buildings that are next to each other dont just look completely different
if you look at a highstreet, a lot of the buildings are very similar looking
brickcrafts' city would be much better if it werent 90% grass elements
just an example
there was another really detailed one i saw, i forget the dudes name though
he had a bunch of tudor style buildings
i like brick world
the train station is so awesome
this isnt neccesarily true for all places though
in nyc a lot of the buildings next to each other actually look very different
they are all generally of a similar style though
heres a european style high street
heres one for a smaller town
youve got a good point
but idk
i just feel like for small lego cities
the diversity of all the official modulars make the entire city pop
also @merry timber (u obviously dont have to answer if you dont want to) but are you an AFOL or a teenage lego enthusiast?
I'm AFOL
Oh ok, that makes sense. I was wondering how you got all the money to spend on those amazing sets haha (it makes sense now tho since ur an AFOL)
Also @merry timber a suggestion I have that might be SUPER hard to implement (but would be very cool) is an elevated rail line
I thought about that too
But I scraped the idea due to a plan that i have to elevate my city
Bcuz lego keeps on releasing new buildings
And space doesn't expand
Trying to use my z-space
yea thats smart
poor old ninjago city off in the corner
This is awesome
@merry timber Iām a Lego train nerd so Iām sorry for asking but are you planning on automating the train layout with something like Pybrocks or Arduino?
Or even a ESP32 (arduino microcontroller) or Raspberry Pi 5
I have thought about it but it's very low on my priority list tho
I have a couple of rpi and arduino to play around with
Yeah itās a very low priority thing but i think itād be really cool and make your city stand out even more than it already does
Hey thatās awesome I wish I did too
I donāt have any automation stuff but Iāve spent way too much time researching it so if you need any cool ideas regarding the train setup lmk
I'll reach out to u whenever I have sth for trains
š
Holy shit
š„¹ my dream
Nice
Drone-ish view of the main street
This is sick. I can't wait until I get my own place so I can create a big setup like this
Thatās absolutely beautiful
