I hate to sound like a premature sore loser, but it's super demoralizing when someone enters a project they've worked on for WEEKS in the moc contest. There's really no way to compete, and I think it reduces the number of entries from people thinking to enter but seeing the insane size of the other moc or mocs. I feel like there should be some sort of rule to make sure that all entries are new projects or at least could be completed in 2 weeks.
#Moc contest build time frame.

yes lol
i may or may not have done a moc outside of the time frame 🫣
I've done one or 2, but all of them could have been completed in 2 weeks and none of them demolished the competition
It was mostly because the contest in question was short on entries.
While I like the concept behind this rule, enforcing it would be difficult
I dunno, just disqualify anything ridiculous. It doesn't need to be perfect.
True. A massive space station that takes up most of an entire room would easily qualify as "ridiculous" for most contest timelines. 🤣
I think you may have this thread confused with another one. This isn't about theme voting. This is about people submitting contest entries that were not fully built within the contest timeframe.
Alternatively a soft piece limit could be imposed.
Eg. Approximately 2000 pieces.
That gives quite a bit of breathing space while ruling out giant things.
how would that be enforced tho, we wouldnt know how much an irl moc has
Approximately
You can tell if it's 5k
Nah, that's too limiting.
It shouldn't be anything that actually limits creativity.
I think a high piece count would do that
You'd be hard pressed to make a over 2000 piece, quality moc in 2 weeks I think.
bumpety bump bump
This is why moc contests have to be only a week or a few days long
that changes nothing though.
it actually makes it worse
the problem is someone||legocrop|| entering a build they worked on for 6 months leaving no one else any chance of winning

Oh dope. Here let me share my current project

Exactly!
There's no point to enter
That's what I'm suggesting
If its over 2500 parts it's disqualified
Not feasible to enforce
I had an idea
To resolve this
Size restriction
Build must fit on a 32x32 baseplate
Or maybe 64x64?
There’s no way to enforce the actual timeframe without sucking the fun out of it
Why?
Piece count??
It doesn't need to be an exact part count
We can tell from looking at it if it's 6000 vs. 3000
The only feasible solution is size restriction
90% of builds are clearly under 3000 parts.
I feel like that's too limiting though
I dunno, I just feel like it's easy to tell about how many thousand pieces are in a moc.
No height restriction
It doesn't matter if it's exact, it's just to keep out massive builds that take a ton of time.
Like, cloud city is about 3000 parts.
It's pretty easy to tell if something is dramatically more pieces I think
When, for any of these themes, will someone need to build something longer than 64 studs lol
In 2 weeks aswell
I guess
I almost feel like that's too large though.
Like, that's about a 2 x 2 baseplate chunk, right?
Well my original idea was 32x32
Why not just have the builds be small?
Then nobody can win because of how much time or money they have
Very level playing field
Between the two sizes, yeah
Eh
I won’t enforce that
Okay
Fair point
And when it comes down to nitty gritty What If I’m tryna DQ someone and they’re like oh it’s only 2997 pieces
“I counted it, it’s 2754, waaahhh mods DQ me without even knowing the facts”
I’d like to be 100% certain when I’m DQing people, that they’re breaking a rule
Plus, with the media limit raised to 9, two pictures can be required to show how long and wide the build is
7 media for whatever pics (or the one video option) you want, then two required images: one showing the length and one showing the width
And with no height restriction people can still go crazy and build upward if they want to
Ye, but then you just balance the spaceship vertically
Idk
It's an improvement for sure but I feel it doesn't completely solve it.
32x32 it is then lol
Nobody balancing a giant spaceship on one baseplate
But then you can't enter anything long.
I think fitting on one baseplate levels the playing field nicely
Hmm
What if we made them one week long
Instead of 2
So they’d be more frequent and smaller builds
That’s more approachable to newbies too
With the baseplate rule?
Maybe
And just give me more work
I’m willing to do it more often if it changes it up to be more fun
Cus right now contests are kinda pitiful lol nobody entering
I feel like that again limits too much.
Like I said, it annoys me aswell and I’ve wracked my brain over it
Idk if you'd get many finished entries with that.
Well, we have 2 weeks.
Just the single baseplate
I specified sweeps cus he and I are the most prominent moc builders of the staff
As in, we build the most mocs
Ahh there’s candy too now
She builds a lot
I’d be willing to bet she’d like the single baseplate idea, a lot of her mocs aren’t bigger than that it seems
If you don't want to id piece count by yourself as well, we could have previous winners or something decide whether or not it's too large.
A vote.
Idk
Anyways, I gotta go watch fast and furious now.
Try to think about it being your job that you don’t get paid for to make sure people follow these rules and it’s fair for everyone
Adios
Which one
I need to know
number 1
I've never seen them so I thought I should start at the start.
Solution has been reached I hope you enjoyed the first movie
The first 3 are my favorites
But I like them all
6 was my least favorite I think
I haven’t seen the new one though
it was pretty good. Still hasn't convinced me to get the sets though...
I feel like I'll enjoy the middle ones more.
perhaps
And if you don’t then something is wrong with you lol that’s okay
idk if I can convince my family to watch another though
tokyo drift sounds cool
I think you’ll feel the same
Starting with 5, it becomes more like GTA online
With heists
And over the top action
Less about racing
Even 2 fast takes a turn away from racing but it’s still so good
And there is plenty of racing still
I just want cars and explosions
But, it’s like Star Wars for me, I’ll always watch more of the content
Even if it’s just to laugh at it
Then you’ll enjoy them all
I’m interested to hear which will be your favorite
what's the solution?
Universal size restriction on all further contest entries:
32 studs or less length
32 studs or less width
32 bricks (96 plates) height
Two of the Nine media submitted must be profile pictures
One clearly showing the width
One clearly showing the length
(Height can be determined by either of those)
The only theme negatively impacted by this would be Train
Gona have to build one car on a train or a micro scale train or something lol
there could be exceptions as well I guess.
No exceptions
for themes I mean.
Cus then someone submits a train they spent 4 months on with 9 cars
thats true.
I wonder if another way is more specific themes that can't be changed so much.
I spent every moment you were gone enjoying your movie discussing with every mod other than scout lol
It’s decided and I’ll be implementing it for this next contest
the nation thanks you for your sacrifice.
And I’ll close this forum then too
Or whatever happens to suggestions that have been fulfilled
usually they just sit and die.
Idk he’s been busy I guess
eh, good for him.
