i think if the smeagol and deagol minifigs are well done, its a nice minifig line-up. You get the original cast, some side characters, and you get smeagol and deagol, which play a big role in lord of the rings, because they are transformed into smeagol

all in all im pretty excited for this set, just checked my lego account and i have 7000 lego points which im gonna use and will be buying at the DAWN OF LIGHT ON release day

for me id have to go with the uruk hai army. i have the helmsdeep from back in the day with two extension packs. You can get away with having a only a few soldiers on the walls but it takes a lot of uruk hai to look menacing. Gondor would be my next pick too

Idk if this is a hot take or not but I like the red look for the Uruk-hai that Lego did. It makes them stand out against the normal orcs

Think its a case of mistaken identity and the price for me. Its like the set is 50% play set, 50% display set. The interior for me seems a bit lacking compared to the original Bag End that released years ago. However, its great to see new Lego Lord of the Rings sets. Just a shame they dont adopt a similar "architect" approach to some of the sets like they did with the Harry Potter series. (The Hogwarts castle and grounds and Diagon Alley)

Hi, i'm new here, loved lego all my life, have quite a bit of it. Lord of the rings is my favorite thing in life so I'd been waiting for this years shire set. A bit disappointed if I am being quite honest but I am still thinking about getting it.

Anyway, a week or 2 ago I happened to hear about the new t-rex skeleton coming out and thought it was cool AF and pretty cheap so decided to buy it. The youtube channel I saw it on said you could get an extra set if you generated a code through their link (and spent more than ~270 euros).
When buying the skeleton I remembered the code so went back to the video, generated a code, and input it at check-out. The code was accepted but nothing in my cart changed and while the code was being displayed I couldn't see any sign that it worked or failed. Decided to place the order, not pay yet, and call customer service. They asked for my information, which set I was supposed to get, etc. Then they manually added it to my cart and told me they'd send an email to let me know what the problem was.
A few minutes later I got an email explaining that the affiliate code I use was only for the UK and that I should look for codes specific to my region (the netherlands), however, it was no problem and I did receive the gift set in question, free of charge.

Honestly, just amazing customer service. But it did have me thinking "I should make sure next time that I make a big purchase whether there are any similar codes, because it would have been a shame to miss this".

Then I realized there might be a discord for lego fans, and that's why I am now here.

So essentially, I was wondering if someone knows if there is a similar code for the shire set in the netherlands in a few days, or better yet, where I could go to keep up to date with potential codes?

so im on bag 18 of the barad dur set and im at the step where im building an anvil

i use like a 1x2 piece as base with a stud in the middle. But its gray while the instructions coloured it black

i have looked throughout the instructions from bag 18 to see if i needed the gray one. but this is the only one featured in the bag

so did i get the wrong color by mistake or are the instructions wrong

Grey and black always look super similar in Lego instructions, it's grey though. You can tell in steps 2&3 it's a slightly different colour

i've just finished building the first tree on top of the shire yesterday.. kinda dont get all the fuss around that tree, its ok imo. Could've been better, true. Probably going to finish the whole set today or tommorow. I do kinda like all the smaller side builds. I now have gandalf arrives somewhere in my living room near the tv. I'm already picturing just putting all the small builds around the house every where and there on cool places.

how much for? If it's the old figs I wouldn't every pay close to rivendell. All you need is the old "adventure" stlye Aragorn on top of the rivendell figs. All other figs are outfitted for the quest - aragorn is the only one wearing formal clothes for the council

Does the fact that they crack easily have anything to do with them being older sets or sets manufactured before a certain year? I didn’t know that cracking bricks was a thing. 😱 I only have sets that were made within the past 5 years.

I wouldn't worry about it, it came out last year, the problems with brown pieces being brittle are fixed

Likely any set released post covid should be fine

It's the same for dark red as well

And from a google search it will tell you it was fixed in 2018

So anything after that is good

No problem, this set was from 2009 and wasn't that bad if you're careful with it, as you can see there were a lot of brown

It was probably my hardest build just simply because I had to be so careful and the parts were creaking a lot

In Australia we don't really have in person lego stores, we have certified sellers who have their own point systems and offers and I have only ever bought from them once out of last minute bday gift desperation.

Hey friends, lmk if you think the reins look okay or wonky. I cobbled it together with random pieces from other sets. The “reins” come from one of the ropes that support the sails on the ship from the “Arrival” Harry Potter set.

The Shire set doesn’t come with reins for Gandalf’s carriage so I had to make my own.

Multiple people are giving you examples of parts missing from new sets. There is a reason that LEGO has a web page for builders to request missing parts for their sets. It is what it is. LEGO is not infallible, and that’s fine.

Whenever I'm missing a part I spend at least 20 minutes checking the bag and everything near me. I even check if I accidentally used it when I should have used a different part

Love to hear it! I do the same thing! The first time I built a set, I caught myself accidentally using a piece for another part. I’ve been more careful about not repeating that mistake since then.
