#Gimli Port Forwarding

Great. That means your OS firewall isn't blocking things
Go ahead and take a screenshot of your port forward rule and paste it here
You can't have two rules for the same ports so lets delete one of them
Have you already run the cgnat test?
i have not run the test yet, not sure what i need to do for that
@tidal compass lets see if i can make the bot post in here
CGNAT is a service used by ISPs to decrease the number of IPv4 addresses their networks use. It places an additional router outside the customer's own network and provides them with an internal IPv4 address provided by the company. This often prevents incoming connections on numerous ports.
To confirm you are affected by CG NAT, use one of the following commands:
Windows 10: open a powershell window and use the following command
tracert (curl https://ifconfig.me/ip -UseBasicParsing); tracert 8.8.8.8
Mac/Linux: open a terminal and use the following command
traceroute $(curl -4 ifconfig.io); traceroute 8.8.8.8
After the command has completed, please post a screenshot here with the results so a troubleshooter can interpret them.
let it finish
It will take a few
It looks like you're behind CGNat. That will prevent players from connecting to you.
You have a couple options:
- You can call your ISP and ask to be allowed to port forward and removed from the CGNat (start here).
- Use one of the paid hosting partners. They do all the work, but it costs a bit
- You can have one of your players host your game for you. (With an IPS that allows port forwarding)
- You can setup one of the free cloud hosts (Guides available on the wiki)
- You can try a 3rd party tool like ngrok, localtunnel or zeroteir (unsupported)
brill, i'll call my ISP tomorrow and see what they can do for me
Sounds good
So a colleague pointed out that you may have a 2nd router on site instead of it being on your ISP's end. Do you know if you have two routers?
Just the one in the house provided by my ISP
