I am extremely pleased to bring this news. So i'll repost the trailer from our main announcement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6jBbemQdDo

The Foundry Virtual Tabletop team is proud to announce that as a result of our official partnership with Paizo we have the biggest Pathfinder 2E launch on Foundry VTT yet! From the FAQ:

We are currently committed to producing the three titles mentioned in our announcement (Beginner Box, Outlaws of Alkenstar, and Abomination Vaults). We want the industry-leading adventure content that Paizo is creating for Pathfinder 2e to be available on Foundry Virtual Tabletop - ideally on its initial release date - so that GMs can confidently look forward to running their next adventure in Foundry VTT. Paizo has published a huge catalog of content over the years, and while we want that to eventually be available on Foundry Virtual Tabletop, our efforts will be focused first and foremost on supporting new releases.

Is this going to be like an Account Sync (similar to the patreon sync) with our Paizo accounts to unlock the content? That's the part I'm curious for... or is it going to be akin to the Bounty system? I wanna prepare a video so that when people ask, I have a resource to point them to!

I don't know that but I suspect they will just be on Paizo's site directly.

terse hazel
junior adder

Does this mean that future content will no longer be available for free as before? For example Book of the Dead or something that will be released later. Could it mean that these creatures will no longer be implemented as statblocks because there is a module available?

wispy void
astral juniper
#

we still get all the statblocks because no module could even try to keep up with the system development and necessary changes πŸ˜„

devout valley
sage plank
# junior adder Does this mean that future content will no longer be available for free as befor...

Our content works with the system, not against it or in place of it- for instance, the AV release doesn't actually include any new actors. Instead we use the actors that exist in the system already. That means they're guaranteed up to date and working with the latest system features! So there's no incentive or desire to mess with how the system works on that front. We all benefit from the system being great!

brave crow
#

Which, iirc, is where the bounties went wrong. Linked to compendia is the way forward

zinc cairn
#

Yup. It's a hassle to set up at first since just grabbing the compendium actors and throwing them in a module compendium is stuipidly easy but it's also a great way to ensure extra work for yourself.

glad siren

But the token to the left is crowding the one above it in that layout... yes!

fluid canopy

Is that a thing you can do? Have an image stretch beyond the 5x5 grid it's in?

glad siren

Which means that there needs to be some fiddling in Foundry to make the art extend beyond its grid

chrome brook

AFAIK these were all made on the same size canvas (?)

glad siren

Yeah, scale instead of size

terse hazel

Some tokens deserve a bit more love to really show the art off, so things like dragons, or particularly detailed portraits

this is the perfect excuse to push me over the edge to run the beginner box I think

rocky vale

It's worth the run - doubly so once this is released

chrome brook
#

i have a group of players that are all tentatively interested in PF2e, and while I would've loved to play the system before DM'ing i'll definitely take the plunge yet again in hopes of converting someone πŸ˜†

rocky vale
#

I was very fortunate to get invited to TMun's Malevolence campaign, and that was my first dive into pf2e.

Since then I've only been a DM, doing one bounty, the beginner box, and now working my way through the Troubles in Otari adventure.

It's a fun system, and like any other system sure you can get bogged down in rules, but if you take it in stride, make on the fly decisions and just look it up later, things will go smooth and everyone will have a good time πŸ™‚

#

I'm definitely excited for this partnership, and could easily see getting some of the content to run. The quality of the content is just phenomenal.

coral valley
#

2e system is just amazing in Foundry, the amazing Maps, art and tokens and the well designed (and linked!) notes are just the cherry on top

static vortex
#

I think the big question I have is around where this puts the trajectories of the PF2e system vs Pathfinder Nexus – for as much as we assert that Nexus is not a VTT and v/v, there is still overlap (the compendia, character building, who knows what else). Nothing has been announced on this front that I've missed, right?

It is going to be a D&D Beyond-like thing for PF2e?

The only complaint I had about the Buhlman box text was that those tracks are super quiet. For the combats, I had to set the volume to 50% in Syrinscape; for the box text, I had to raise it to max and tell the people in the game to be quiet so they could hear it

Hopefully we'll be able to provide a suitable amount of granularity in the sound effects and ambiences to make it a more pleasant experience

raw wyvern

I'm pretty excited for all of this. I have been buying everything I can with Paizo art to create tokens/scenes/player handouts with. It will be awsome to have something with all the art, sounds, and effects packaged together.

I would like to know if this would cover foreign languages PDF's to the discount as well, since both Fantasy Grounds and Roll20 ignore the people that get the PDF in their native language instead of directly from Paizo.

In my example, i'm from Brazil, the partnership with the "New Order Editora" has the rights to translate and distribute Paizo Books here, but we are shut down from those kind of initiatives since they only recognize the english versions of the PDF's.

And for those who don't know, our mininum wage is under $1,2/hour

And even if a translation partner were to sell the content on paizo.com, the API would need a complete overhaul to check for ownership of more than one product, as it would be keyed to the English-language version and not multiple different translations.

I think that's something to take up with Paizo in more official channels than in here- but if something doesn't work out before release, i'd like to invite you to DM me about it. I keep some personal discretionary funds for people afflicted by unfavourable exchange rates and i remember you from paizocon last year. If something can't be worked out for everyone, I'd at least like to make sure something gets worked out for you.

Searched a bit but couldn't find anything on that: Are there plans to also include other older APs? Cause I'd really like to have a premium version of quest for the frozen flame (motivation to prep anything is incredibly low, but I want to play that AP)

No news on that yet. Future products will depend on how well these do. AV was an obvious starting point, but it's possible that other previous APs or adventures get released depending on the demand

Sounds reasonable if a bit of a shame it started one after the AP I am personally interested in.

# zinc cairn PDF to Foundry result from the beginner's box vs the new module

I might be the only one, but I'm even more excited for the journal than the map. It's a miracle (and a ton of hard work by fryguy) that pdf2foundry was working this well, but he was working within the limitations of the pdf. Having a module built from the ground up with Foundry opens a slew of new possibilities for organisation, cross-linking and other convenience features (and the text styling in the sample looks really neat already).

We're still figuring out how we want to handle token packs long term. Stay tuned for news on that front but it may be a while before we settle on how best to handle it. It's a far more complicated problem than people might think...but Gen's right, just because the pack releases for pf2e doesn't mean you can't have access to the art and sounds and other content in another system, it would just mean a little more manual work for assignment.

raw wyvern

Yes, very excited for that in PF2e 😁 I'm going to be ripping out the art and music for my homebrew. We are thrilled to announce the first products launching from this partnership: The Pathfinder Beginner Box - Menace Under Otari is set to arrive on arrive on April 16, with the brand new adventure path Outlaws of Alkenstar - Punks in a Powderkeg arriving on April 27, and the entirety of the expansive and iconic adventure path Abomination Vaults arriving on May 25.

zinc cairn
#

The beginner box is coming out on the 16th of this month. Outlaws will be on release day for the PDFs, and AV will be on release day for the ... yeah that

#

With I guess the caveat that those dates for the PDF releases could change if there's some horrible last minute delay to the books.

So I guess it will be similar to like patreon-tied modules? You purchase it on paizo and link your account in FVTT

Man. I am so hyped. Gonna dive right into the beginner box and give it a real thorough read/test. Wanna run it as soon as the opportunity arises

fleet bloom
#

I'm super excited about this because - as the forever DM - I can hand one of these modules to a buddy and say "Run this!"

rocky vale
#

Beginner's Box is great. I have some minor lore gripes with it, but honestly that's about normal for me and reading pre-made modules.

zinc cairn
#

I think as an intro a system it's the best one I've ever seen by far. As an actual adventure, I mean it's literally "hey there's rats in my basement"

#

It's a good one of those but some bits are real contrived to teach you about certain things. There also (BB and AV spoilers) ||The fact that there's this huge cavern system right next to the ocean and a swamp which is not at all explained until you go through AV and even then only if you read a ton of extra lore||

chrome brook
#

I'm very interested in seeing how it acts as a "tutorial" for newer players, that's the most intriguing part I think. I've already had my hyperfixation deep dive into the rules myself so I have a solid grip but anyone I bring in would be brand new. Really hyped to test it out eventually

zinc cairn
#

Each room kind of features a new twist on things, slowly introducing new conditions and tactics. I suggest new GMs also model the tactical combat of Pf2e for their players. Some kobolds punching above their weight because they raise shields, flank, take cover, or debuff before attacking can really stress that the system is about tactics more than standing and swinging.

So out of curiosity, and maybe no one knows yet, but the discount applied toward the foundry package is only from buying the PDF, right? I was thinking of buying the AV hardcover, and i am not a subscriber so I don't get a free pdf, but i assume that the purchase of the hardcover won't get me a discount. Which is fine! Hello guys, I dont know if this is known already but super excited to see Abom. Vaults get official support because we decided to start pf2e with this adventure just a couple weeks ago! My idea was to interweave Troubles in Otari, at least at the start. Will it still be possible to use the official Abom. zinc cairn
#

It works well, just need to watch that XP since there's a ton of it with 3 adventures going on at once.

feral stirrup
#

yeah, not sure if I'll just slow down the xp gain at the start (since we're all new to pf2e, me included, so it wouldnt be too bad of a choice) or adjust the fights to account for higher player level (Im gonna need to adjust them anyway cause I have 6 players)

zinc cairn

I had 7 players in AV and it was getting a bit crowded. At 6 now and it's manageable but definitely needs some adjusting. Our GM did this for AV and it worked great! The Troubles missions were a nice little change of scenery when we needed a break from the dungeon or hit a good break point in the story. They're not quite as good as the main plot, so if you don't feel any of them, feel free to cut them, too, but the first one was especially good.
XP could be a concern done by the book, but because you get less XP if you outlevel an encounter it can theoretically adjust. Our GM just used Milestone though- the sidequests still rewarded us with items and a story to tell, and we never felt like we were levelling too slowly.

Yeah i bought the physical deck, scanned the cards, set up rolltables linked to actors that had an image for each card, and then set up rolltables. I'm guessing the torch item is missing a rule element to add the light source? Just tried with one of the iconic pregens and equipping the torch didn't make any difference. Rules Element tab is empty

I believe I recall hearing that's a system thing (because the items and monsters are being imported from the system compendiums) and is being fixed in a pf2e system update

But hopefully that's fixed soon in the system.
