so, hello, winterwulf, where are we
haha ok
yeah, it was just very two active conversations at the same time
yea, changing AC calc when you need to is definitely the simplest
I understand it is easier to just flip, but I was trying to automate all the spells for this player
the Active Effect on the actor approach is...fine...but still feels weird
question, do you use midi or better rolls?
midi
oh, midi should be able to apply that, right?
oh, if you already use it it can be configured to transfer effects from spells to actors
i am far from an expert on that module
but when I transfer it instantly apply, unles I click to keep it suspended
I will look into midi
should be like...dont transfer on equip, target self in the spell details, and settings to support active effect stuff
in Midi's workflow settings, if you have "Auto apply item effects to targets", that will transfer AEs
Ok thats is active
you would have to remember to remove manually after 8 hours of in-game time though... or use another module (Simple Calendar?) to remove it
I have simple calendar too
about time?
I have like 100 mods
times up?
yes
i always forget
lol, fair, so you would use one of them if you wanna auto-remove
same, Times Up is for short-term effects (mainly those that would expire during a combat, i.e. 1 minute or less)
I have set 28800 seconds in the AE spell duration
you need the other ones that rely on a calendar to expire the long-term effects
"Times Up" - right now = short term
"About Time" - a book about time = long term
i will remember this one day
hahaha good idea
Luckily my games don't have enough things that require AEs, and those that do are short-term so Time's Up is good enough for me
So I have all these, I wanted to have the spell to activate when I cast it only. and it deactivate when the time pass.
I had it with the light spell for example
Or I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if I already wanted a calendar to help keep track of time... then it's no big deal to slap on an extra mod to expire AEs
If the spell/feature targets Self, you shouldn't have to
I don't have experience with spells that way, but I configured the barbarian's Rage feature to target Self and it worked
should be the same for spells though
it states target "a willing creature"
my bad, i feel so dumb
lol
thank you so much for bearing it with me, you guys rocks โค๏ธ
No worries, automation is hard. It shouldn't be, but I think that's just the way it is with dnd5e because a lot of stuff is exception based (there's a certain core set of rules then a bunch of exceptions). And spells have a lot of exceptions
I agree, thanks!!
