Right, I think this one counts here. Tried to drag the event window aside to take in the region, got the UX for journals and dropping a map note. Probably something to think about allowing it to be movable, but the map note is not the expected result here.

Yeah I came across that too and logged it internally, didn't make the cut for alpha 1 though

@sharp gazelle moved your comment over here. This restriction is important for technical reasons, but I agree the UX can probably be improved. In theory it shouldn't be possible to "lose" the discovery or event window though

All I observed is that essentially we had no idea what Discovery was preventing us from moving on and it required us to reset a bunch of discoveries. This was just during our initial testing so it may be that it was a fluke bug, but it was something that would be game breaking during an actual session.

@copper tartan forwarding this one here so it doesn't get lost.

Preventing the deletion of the Party Token Actor might help prevent breakage

Continuing my rant here:

The only use case I can think of is wanting to manage multiple parties or factions. Either the same player group as different characters, or a different group in the same game.
Being able to change the primary party at will, and being able to toggle which parties affect timeflow would fit that. Though I'd say only the primary party should be able to trigger events, etc.

"As a GM managing multiple parties or factions in a single game, I want to be able to manage multiple instances of parties that can affect the timeflow and can be placed or removed at will without needing to delete the Actor."

makes sense, thanks for your thoughts. I'm not sure that what you're describing can (or should) be accomplished within a single World, but it is always good to consider these cases.

So, the festival at the destination is a time-sensitive event which is cool. It means the players have a reason to not dilly dally and get moving since they'll miss it if they don't. But, what happens if they say, go north, get to Helkas, then backtrack to see what was south, and only then move on -- and keep doing that. Will that cause them to miss events later in the story because now they can't possibly do them before the time runs out? or could they get to places where the events already happened? Because I'm imagining like if BG3 was actually timed like the story makes it out to be and you tried doing all the side quests that would not end well lol

(multiple parties in the same instance)

#

it's a bit off topic, but I'm sure that once Ember is stable someone could make a module that syncs party tokens across campaign instances, allowing it to feel like that is what's happening

#

(assuming you just wanted it like an MMORPG where you can see other players but get your own instance of the story)

#

Preventing the deletion of the Party Token Actor might help prevent breakage
having a macro to fix the party token would also be a potential work around

#

there's probably some metadata somewhere that's missing/incorrect when you replace it, so having a macro to correct that metadata would at least be a temp fix

How to mark a event "completed" the Sickly Drakelings event choice box for this disappear during combat encounter ^^_^

#

Ok I find! I just move the caravan one hexe and remove it a the hexe of the event.

well this is a fun thing to find in an update 🤣

brazen hill
#

Make sure to reimport the ember adventure

void junco
#

you know, I totally forgot the need to do that, lemme try that real quick

#

@brazen hill ok, it still says broken link in the flow chart, but I can see Leavetakings now, going to try to activate the event

void junco
#

it worked! 👀

#

do I need to care about the prereq's not being satisfied to initiate the event? should I teleport my party to the hex?

brazen hill
#

It looks like maybe you missed “the smoke clears” before

You might want to review both events and retroactively brief your party on some of their information

void junco
#

this is my current checklist

#

I turned off the smoke clears by accident earlier

#

figured out the prereq's issue, need to check the departing Helkas flag in The Smoke Clears, which I didn't do originally because it didn't exist when we finished The Smoke Clears

#

yep, Leavetaking worked perfectly

Crucible -> Standalone Events -> Chapter 1 -> Time for a Swim: the potential loot item of Quickwater has no description/properties

#

Crucible -> Standalone Events -> Chapter 1 -> Shattered Expectations: the text says "However, the characters must also assess whether or not the event has thrown them off course - an outcome that becomes more likely based on whether or not some of them were hit by the crystal shards.", but the outcomes are only affected by a brand new skill check, not by previous performance. Could either remove that line altogether, or perhaps a fun tweak is that only a character who wasn't struck by the crystals can be nominated as the guide, and if everyone was struck it's an automatic Critical Failure?
