#Nath's weird randomly private rolls

Are you aware, did the GM have their client's roll mode set to whatever it was you rolled unexpectedly?
This may have happened to me in my two weeks ago game
if your push to talk key is like a mouse key bound to Ctrl, then yes it can make your roll into a private roll if you are pressing it at the same time as you start a roll. Recommend not to use a modifier key for your PTT key.
Yeah, in PF2, when you roll holding down Ctrl:
- Players get the roll dialog with Blind GM Roll prechosen
- GMs get roll dialog, Private Roll prechosen
When you hold down Shift:
- Players and GMs just roll openly, bypassing dialogs
(this might be module-influenced behavior - I haven't checked)
Oh, hey, if you do Ctrl+Shift as a player or GM, you get a blind/self roll that bypasses the dialog
that is a goooooooood question. @dusty musk
from what i understand the ctrl key makes it a GM blind roll, not a private roll.
That is a good question. I generally have it set to public all the time, but it may have been. I will watch for that next time it happens
So I am not sure I experienced, but I did a few rolls with an NPC, set to GM blind, and then the next time a character rolled Nature, it was Blind. As was the second..
Didn't think much of it
Switched my roll mode
The third nature roll came in a few minutes later in accord with the player's selected mode
Yes, I was using Ctrl as just an example of a modifier key. OP may be using alt, shift, or other control key.
None of those control keys are good keys to use for a PTT key since they can have side effects.
it does switch depending on whether or not the "speaker" of the roll is player-owned
closing the loop:
the final diagnosis appears to be errant push-to-talk key (right ctrl) in conjunction with one-or-more modules that change the roll mode based on what key is held down.
