@light nest I am annoyed (in general not at you) to learn this behaviour persists. Links should go directly to the appropriate heading within the journal. Can you try something: click a link, then once the journal opens, click the link again to see if it then takes you to the right spot

FWIW this also was still happening to me ~3-4 weeks ago with the Core Rules journals. Not sure if it was fixed since then, but I’ll update all my stuff this afternoon and check. I used to always have to click journal links twice to get them to go to the right section. Search modules like Quick Insert also couldn’t search page names within journals for some reason, which makes it very hard to use them to look up rules

Agreed. Trying to zero in on this cause it should "just work" and does for some but not others

#

Quick Insert is a bit trickier but would love for it to search within journals, or maybe we need to add an index like the books for now. FVTT search is not super robust in that regard.

#

The issue is generally confined to a "cold start" like if the journal has not been previously opened you can't go to links inside it from other places

#

I am working with FVTT staff as it appears to be a core Foundry issue

Okay, I have not been able to replicate this problem today, the links seem to take me to appropriate sections of the Journal... for literally the first time I've ever tried them.

Figures. First time I try and bring it to someone's attention...

It only happens within SWADE for me, though. Following the same procedure in starfinder, for example, opens the journal to the right page the first time.

It happens in other systems

The PF/SF code might do something for the journals

#

We will look at that too though, maybe we can emulate them and/or fix it

reef basin
#

Yeah that's possible, I only really use SWADE and starfinder so these are the only two data points I have haha

#

Either way, appreciate the efforts being taken to fix it

Links are so important for referencing rules

#

We all want them working

I've still had some actors from Runelords be incredibly frustrating - Stone Giants extras in Book 4 had 2 Wounds yet in the book and bestiary they should have 1.

tawdry nymph
#

Something is probably adding a wound automatically: like one in the data and one automatically from Size

still musk
#

Size 3: 12’ tall

#

If they were Size 4 that makes sense, they'd get the extra Wound but they are 3.

tawdry nymph
#

hmm that is strange, are they resilient?

still musk
#

They are Resilient, so they should have the 1 Wound. But they were coming in with 2.

#

I was scrambling to verify the pdfs, then the Size rules . . then just let it fly because a couple the players are min-maxed to an extent. Still the combat ran a bit too long. Could've just incapacitated them at a point but same players get analytical too.

I submitted the ticket.

tawdry nymph
#

in the future you can probably deactive/delete the active effects

#

but we can also deal with it on the ticket, thank you

#

when ROTRL was built abilities and edges didn't add active effects

#

then they got added, but probably messed up a few actors by adding things that were already accounted for

Good to know, that this is a known issue and been worked on by FVTT, because I'm experiencing that too. The workaround, opening the link twice, seems to work most times (in my test right now I had to click a link sometimes 3-4 times until it brought me to it's destination). But still there seems some weird links. F.e. the link to Area Effects Attacks in Bolt opens the section Situational Rules. AEA is in there, and reachable with a bit of scrolling, but it would be nicer, if it's directly linked and not the section it's in. But that's something that can wait, until the main bug is fixed...
