Okay, but I do not know what your settings are, so to help you troubleshoot and resolve, I need to know if you set up port forwarding initially or not
Also creating a thread to keep it from clogging the channel ๐
where can I check that?
Okay, first thing to check is that you are self hosting correct?
That means I have the app, I open the app, and I share links to my app that other people open in browsers, right?
(if so, then yes.)
Okay, so you use the Desktop app on your own machine, and then people just connect to you, so that means you are self hosting on your PC. Now, when you first got set up, did you ever have to log into your router, and add port forwarding in there to the port Foundry is running on?
If you have no idea what I am talking about, then chances are no ๐
It's been years. I recall port fowarding as something I had to do in general, but whether it was for just Artemis, foundry and artemis separately, or if they were on the same port, I dont remember.
Well usually you can only have one service on a port. But let's check your ISP isn't doing something funky.
CGNAT is a service used by ISPs to decrease the number of IPv4 addresses their networks use. It places an additional router outside the customer's own network and provides them with an internal IPv4 address provided by the company. This often prevents incoming connections on numerous ports.
To confirm you are affected by CG NAT, use one of the following commands:
Windows 10: open a powershell window and use the following command
tracert -h 5 (curl https://ifconfig.me/ip -UseBasicParsing); tracert 8.8.8.8
Mac/Linux: open a terminal and use the following command
traceroute -m 5 $(curl -s4 ifconfig.io); traceroute 8.8.8.8
After the command has completed, please post a screenshot here with the results so a troubleshooter can interpret them.
I doubt you have this if you've been hosting before now, but it's the simplest place to start before diving deeper ๐
Hotkey for powershell on windows?
Feel free to dm me the screenshot so it's not on display in the server for others ๐
sent,
Perfect, looks good, let's move onto the next step. Open up Foundry and head to the admin config menu:
The update tab isn't an issue! But under the config tab, next to port there's an option called UPnP. just go ahead an untick that
done and restarting
Okay, we don't need Foundry for this bit, next up log into your router. Generally accessibly at http://192.168.0.1
if that doesn't work let me know and we'll find out what ip your router is sat on
Nice. tips hat to Khorne
Now the admin user and pw is usually printed on the back of the router
Try admin as username and password as password
A quick google gave me this:
no duh!
Always the way
Once in, send a screenshot of what you see so I can try and point you in the right direction
But from what others are saying, you will likely need the mobile app to access XFinity dashboard to configure it ๐
But try signing in and see if it forces you to or not
Yay! Okay now to figure out where XFinity hides the port forwarding options, likely under Firewall
v4 or v6?
v4
Perfect, so follow the link and whatever steps it gives you
mobile app ๐ฆ
It'll tell you to get the app
Yeah, xfinity changed it so you can't change things (even wifi stuff) without the app
Damn, that's annoying. Well time to download the app my friend!
So once you're logged in go to Connect > View WiFi equipment > Advanced settings > Port Forwarding
It'll be your xfinity login. Not what you used to access that portal there
I can reach Connect > View WiFi equipment > Advanced settings > but I cant select port fowarding.
Welp, you're gonna have to contact xfinity then to see if they can fix that for you
Is that likely to resolve my issue?
my issue.
Oh
Well you need to port forward to get the green check
The purpose of calling xfinity will be to access the port forwarding page from the xfinity app
Any time I call I just say speak with agent till I get to one
And calling wise I just google the closest xfinity store and call that number
That, or somewhere on the app/website I find the support text option
What should port fowarding be set to, if I get through?
